Rory McIlroy is laughing off Team USA’s new shirts for the upcoming Ryder Cup Tournament.
The five-time Major champion recently spoke with Sky Sports about the ordeal that has caused some mockery. The ordeal stems from Ralph Lauren unveiling Team USA’s wardrobe for its biennial team match play competition against Europe. The tournament begins Sept. 26. Among the gear is Ralph Lauren’s navy blue t-shirt emblazoned on the front with “USA Ryder Cup 2025.”
The issue, however, is the silhouette striking a pose eerily similar to McIlroy’s. A Sky Sports reporter couldn’t help but bring up the t-shirt during a recent interview. To his credit, McIlroy laughed it off.
“It looks a little more like Adam Scott to me than me,” said McIlroy with a huge grin on his face. “But yeah, it looks a little similar. I don’t know.”

When asked for his reaction seeing Americans wearing McIlroy silhouettes when the tournament kicks off at the Black Course at Bethpage in Farmingdale, New York, McIlroy looked giddy.
“That’s okay. That’s fine,” he quipped. “I won’t mind that.”
The McIlroy shirts, by the way, sell for a cool $65, which drew similar outrage.
One fan commented, “More appalled by the $65 price gouge. Nothing screams USA like ripping off your fans.”
