Outspoken TV personality Narinder Kaur was reportedly stopped from walking the red carpet at the National Television Awards last night.

The 52-year-old former star of The Apprentice, who has become known for her forthright takes on the Jeremy Vine Show, said ahead of the event that she was running late.

Posting to her Instagram Story from a car en route to the event, she told her followers she was ‘trying to calm down at HOW LATE we are’.

Wearing a dramatic scarlet lace number, which included a sweeping train at the back, the TV star shared photos posing in front of the Thames, with the London Eye in the background.

However, Kaur did not share any from the award show’s red carpet, which was held at the O2 Arena on a rainy Wednesday evening.

A source told The Sun: ‘The carpet was in full flow and packed with celebs looking to show off their outfits.

‘Narinder expected to join them and was baffled and frustrated when she was stopped from having her moment. It caused quite a bit of commotion and those around couldn’t make out why she was rejected.’

Kaur has become known for her plain-spoken takes on the headlines, most recently condemning Rylan Clarke for his anti-asylum seeker stance.

She posted a video in which she slammed his remarks and said he should ‘do better’.

In the video shared on X, she said to the camera: ‘Rylan, I met you before, liked you, but your outburst on This Morning was disgusting and despicable. You can do better. Don’t you dare wrap it up as it’s all unfair.

‘If you wanted to talk about unfairness, you could have talked about billionaires not paying taxes, corrupt politicians, but you decided to punch down on vulnerable people who are drowning, desperate to get to this country. You wrapped it up as some kind of luxury holiday.’

She has also come out against the BBC’s casting of Thomas Skinner as part of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing line-up.

It was a night of high drama at the O2 Arena on Wednesday, as Gary Lineker finally toppled Ant and Dec’s epic two-decade run for the nation’s best presenter award.

Metro contacted Narinder Kaur’s representative and the NTAs for comment.
