Beloved filmmaker Guillermo del Toro has been on a weight loss journey and showed off his results during an appearance at the Venice International Film Festival.
The Mexican director opened up about his journey at the premiere of his latest film, Frankenstein.
“As you get older, you get more scared, and you realize you’ve got to cut back on the tacos,” he joked, adding, “I’m happy.”
Unfortunately, del Toro didn’t go into more detail about how he achieved his 100-pound weight loss, but he wasn’t the only who sized down prior to the premiere.
Saltburn star Jacob Elordi — who plays the lead in del Toro’s Frankenstein — recently opened up about this dramatic weight loss for another role.
“I think there was something quite profound that happened, in that it wasn’t complete torture,” he said of his transformation for a role in The Narrow Road to the Deep North during a Berlin Film Festival press conference. “There was a peace that sort of came over all of us. And you kind of reach a level of love that goes beyond what you’re used to, because everything gets stripped away and you come down to the bare bones of, ‘Is my mate OK? Am I OK? How can I help? Do you want a jellybean?’”
