The UK’s biggest cinema screen in the BFI IMAX in London’s Waterloo has been forced to close its doors as Tommy Robinson’s protest floods the streets.
In a statement uploaded to social media, the official BFI account wrote: ‘We’re very sorry to say that due to exceptionally high crowds around Waterloo, BFI IMAX will close for the rest of the day.
‘Screenings of Demon Slayer and Alien cannot go ahead. Tickets will be refunded automatically and bookers will be emailed. Please don’t travel to the venue.’
The largest screen is home to 489 seats and a screen almost as high as five double-deckers, and has been the location of plenty of cinema history since it first opened in June 1999.
Estimates of tens of thousands of people have joined the far-right leader for what has been dubbed the ‘Unite the Kingdom’ march to Whitehall as tensions brew in the UK’s capital.
Robinson has been joined by several high-profile figures to lead the protestors, including Katie Hopkins and Ant Middleton.

Stand Up To Racism counter-protestors are also present, with reports that both groups have had a stand-off on the way to Whitehall as they continue their separate demonstrations.
Robinson addressed the crowd of around 110,000 in central London, declaring: ‘Look around you. Feel your strength. You are part of a tidal wave of patriotism that is sweeping across this country.
‘This is the biggest demonstration in British history. Turn to the person next to you. Shake their hand, greet them, give them a hug – this is your community.

‘These are your brothers and sisters. We today are united. Today is the spark of a cultural revolution in Great Britain.
There have been skirmishes between the protestors and the police, with Met Police telling Metro: ‘A crowd of the ‘Unite the Kingdom’ protesters attempted to enter the sterile area on Whitehall that is place to keep the two protests apart.
‘Officers were attacked with projectiles and have had to use force to avoid their cordon being breached.’
