MLB Reporter Taking Heat for Postgame Encounter With Cameraman

A longtime MLB reporter is fielding criticism for an unlikely reason following Saturday’s Milwaukee Brewers-St. Louis Cardinals game.

The Brewers, who clinched a postseason berth by virtue of the New York Mets’ loss earlier in the day, won the wild NL Central affair 9-8 on Andruw Monasterio’s walk-off RBI single in the 10th inning. After the game, Monasterio was interviewed by Ken Rosenthal, who serves as The Athletic’s MLB insider and FOX’s on-field reporter.

While Rosenthal spoke to Monasterio, Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick gave his teammate a Gatorade shower, getting Rosenthal wet in the process.

As the 62-year-old journalist stepped backwards to avoid getting soaked, he accidentally leveled a cameraman who had moved close to get a shot.

Not a big deal, but Rosenthal’s reaction is what has drawn backlash.

‘Not a good look’

More than a few observers noted Rosenthal’s look of disgust and apparent lack of concern for the cameraman’s well-being after the collision.

Instead of trying to help the man up, Rosenthal just kind of gave a weird look and went about his business.

“Shoutout to @Ken_Rosenthal for running over the camera man and then giving him a dirty look as he doesn’t offer to help him up,” said one Brewers podcast page on X/Twitter.

“I don’t know Ken Rosenthal, but I do know that if I accidentally knocked someone over (any time, anywhere, let alone on television), I would feel immediately embarrassed and apologetic and would help the person up 10 times out of 10. He looks more… disdainful? Inconvenienced?” added baseball Twitter personality Not Gaetti.

“My Ken Rosenthal hater arc is finally coming around,” added the account Tipping Pitches.

“Damn @Ken_Rosenthal getting a lot of seemingly well deserved heat tonight. #NotAGoodLook,” a fourth commenter said.

“I’m sorry but the video of Ken Rosenthal knocking over the photographer and then getting mad about it is hilarious,” a fifth person chimed in.

More to the story?

We don’t know if Rosenthal eventually checked up on the guy after this awkward interaction that was caught on camera, so it’s impossible to say he showed zero concern.

As of now, the veteran reporter has not addressed the matter publicly either.
