Aldi’s $7 Mini Casserole Dish Is So Similar to a Le Creuset Style Nearly 5x the Price

We love a good dupe of iconic cookware for a fraction of the price. Aldi has been dropping cast-iron versions left and right, and we’re here for it. Between their mini cast-iron skillet, mini cast-iron griddle, full-size enamel-coated cast-iron French Dutch oven and full-size cast-iron grill pan out this week, our kitchens will be stocked and ready to make just about anything.

Their latest drop, coming September 17, is a Crofton Mini Cast-Iron Casserole Dish. You might look at it and wonder what you can make in it, and we’re here to tell you. This little stovetop and baking dish is perfect for making single-size baked goods, like muffins, cookies, cakes, crumbles, crisps and brownies, casseroles and pasta dishes, pot pies and Shepherd’s pies and personal pizzas.

Aldi is Selling a Mini Cast-Iron Casserole Dish for $7

Anything you generally make in a full-size Dutch oven, you can make with this mini version. Given its 8-ounce size and that it comes with a fitted lid, some folks think it makes the perfect butter warmer.

At just $6.99 a piece, you could grab a few of them and make mini versions of your favorite foods with alterations based on what each person likes. Think one oatmeal raisin cookie, one chocolate chunk cookie and one peanut butter oatmeal cookie. Each person can make their own and it becomes a fun weekend activity.

Plus, it’s nice knowing you’re saving quite a bit of cash versus buying the Le Creuset version that retails for $32, nearly 5-times the price of the Aldi copycat. It will function just the same, and the Aldi version comes in a sleek, modern black color that will match everyone’s kitchen.

When these dropped last year, fans took to social media to share their uses. “These work great for French Onion Soup and I also use them for loaded mac and cheese. I make the mac and cheese and then portion it into these and add the toppings”, said one person. “Small meatloafs. Small lasagna”, exclaimed another. “I want one to make garlic confit!”, stated another.

Just like all of the Aldi Finds, they won’t stick around long. And given they’re selling a full set of mini cast-iron goods this week, they’ll likely all go fast.
