Kaizer Chiefs are rumoured to have now completed both deals for two players from arch rivals Orlando Pirates.
Chiefs have been linked with moves for Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako who have just been released by Pirates.
Monyane signs for Chiefs
On Tuesday, this publication reported that Chiefs had finally reached an agreement with Monyane. The right-back will join Amakhosi after spending his entire career so far at Pirates. He went on to also write an emotional farewell to the Buccaneers ahead of his imminent move to Naturena. The details surrounding his move are yet to be disclosed but the same cannot be said about Mako.
The 31-year-old Mako would be arriving from arch nemesis Pirates with a wealth of know-how. This after playing continental football and winning six trophies while with the Buccaneers. He would also come in as a potential starter, solving the left-back issue at Amakhosi. It is thought that his deal to join Chiefs has reached its advanced stages.
Mako also joins from Pirates on a three-year deal
Now while the news of Pirates releasing Mako came as a shock, him being linked with Chiefs was a bigger shock. That due to how instrumental he had become for the Buccaneers under coach Jose Riveiro. Now according to FARPost, he has since penned a three-year deal with Amakhosi.
“It was evident that the team needed to strengthen both flanks of their defence. Mako’s contract with the Buccaneers was set to expire in June, and the club announced on Friday that he was leaving, along with Monyane. The diminutive wingback has agreed to a three-year deal with Chiefs, effective July 1.” Wrote the publication.
Right signing for Amakhosi?
Mako will compete with Bradley Cross as the futures of Edmilson Dove, Bongani Sam and Happy Mashiane are unclear. Happy with these news Chiefs fans? Let us know by clicking on the comment tab.
