Emmerdale spoilers follow for Tuesday’s (September 16) episode that is now available to view on ITVX. The episode in question will air on ITV1 on at 7:30pm.
The scales have well and truly started to fall from Victoria Sugden’s (Isabel Hodgins) eyes where brother John (Oliver Farnworth) is concerned after Robert (Ryan Hawley) left her with food for thought.
John, as viewers know, has pulled the wool over just about everyone’s eyes since he rocked up in the eponymous village last year.
Well, everyone except Robert and Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb), who both had him sussed from day one!
The medic has something of a hero complex, whereby he puts the lives of those in his care in danger so that he can swoop in and play the saviour when he ‘rescues’ them.
In order to get said glory, however, the victims of his cruel antics are taken very close to death – with Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) having almost lost their lives.
Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) did, in fact, perish amid John’s attempt to ‘save’ him, leading the villain to hide the body in the lake and pin the blame on a patient named Owen, who he also allowed to die.

Robert knew full well that John was not to be trusted, hence why he followed his estranged sibling to the cottage last week, where he found him confessing his crimes to a horrified Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), who had been drugged by the so-called medical professional.
Enraged to see Robert, John grabbed Aaron and dived off the gorge with him in tow, framing his brother for the crime. John recovered in hospital while Aaron was put into a medically induced coma.
Robert, meanwhile, was arrested for the incident, with no-one believing his claims that John is the one in the wrong. Victoria disowned Robert in favour of the killer, refusing to believing that John is dangerous.

Robert urged Victoria to come and see him in prison to allow him the opportunity to explain. Vic refused initially but after some help from Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano), Robert got his wish as Victoria arrived at the jail to hear him out.
At first, her demeanour was cold as she reiterated her belief in John, urging Robert to tell the ‘truth’ and admit that he pushed John and Aaron from the cliff.
But Robert was steadfast in his position, professing his innocence once more. In fact, he made it very clear that, under no circumstances, would he ever hurt Aaron in the way John has claimed.
Victoria’s confidence in John’s claims soon started to fade as she heard her brother out. Robert reiterated that John is dangerous, urging her to look out for Aaron, assuring her that once he wakes he’ll be able to clear his name – that is, if John doesn’t kill him first.
The conversation left Vic somewhat shaken and as she returned to the hospital she learned that Aaron is being woken from his coma tomorrow.

John’s reaction, however, was not one of overwhelming joy. In fact, it was quite the opposite – and this didn’t go unnoticed by Vic.
Have the seeds finally started to set in for her? Has she come to realise that Robert is telling the truth and that John isn’t the good guy he’s making himself out to be?
Here’s hoping this is a turning point for her because poor Mack – who was taken prisoner by John earlier this month – is still languishing in the bunker. And he’s running out of time.
Upcoming scenes will see him inject himself with the syringe left by John – and he hallucinates his beloved Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins).
At the hospital, Aaron regains consciousness, which sparks Charity’s quest to find her beloved husband before it’s too late. The question is: will she make it in time?
