Things are getting tense in Europe, and NATO countries are apparently very concerned about WW3.
Several countries are on high alert after Russian drones flew into Polish airspace last week. Fighter jets had to intercept them, and now the UK is sending Royal Air Force Typhoons to join NATO allies from Denmark, France, and Germany to patrol Poland.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk told parliament at least three drones were intercepted, with 19 incursions in total: “The prospect of war is now closer than any time since World War Two.”
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer didn’t hold back in a Channel 4 interview: “That is the right thing to do. The wrong thing would be to ignore this aggression from Putin and Russia. This wasn’t a one-off. Only a few weeks ago we saw attacks on the British Council in Kyiv, the EU embassy, and hits on the Council of Ministers in Kyiv itself.”

Yeah… not exactly reassuring.
Meanwhile, Russia is also sending a warning. Speaking to Sky News, a spokesman for Vladimir Putin said that if the UK sends military aid to Ukraine, it could trigger a full-blown war. He even claimed NATO countries are “at war with Russia” over Ukraine. So, basically, Europe is collectively holding its breath right now.
The RAF jets are expected to start patrols over Poland soon, joining NATO forces in a show of strength. Everyone hopes this is enough to keep things from spiraling further.
In short: Europe is on high alert, tensions are rising, and we’re all collectively wondering if this is just another disagreement, or something much bigger.
So, what does this mean for WW3? For now, it’s mostly about nerves, not nukes. Deploying jets and intercepting drones is standard NATO defence protocol, but when multiple countries get involved and leaders start using phrases like “open conflict,” it ramps up the tension.
It doesn’t mean WW3 is happening tomorrow, but it does show how quickly local incidents can spiral into something bigger if miscommunication or miscalculation occurs. In other words, we’re not at the start of WW3… yet, but Europe is definitely on edge.
So, maybe keep an eye on the news… and try not to panic.
