A new psychological thriller is climbing the charts on Netflix, with fans branding it a ‘10/10’ show.
The first four episodes of Queen Mantis were released on the streaming platform earlier this month, and follows a policeman hunting a new copycat of a brutal serial killer.
Ko Hyun-jung leads the cast as the creepy OG killer, while Jang Dong-yoon plays the officer in charge of finding her protégé.
New episodes are released on Fridays, with four more instalments left until we finally get to the bottom of the mystery.
Currently, the Korean drama is in the top 10 most-watched non-English shows on the platform, with more than 1.3million views in the first week alone.

However, it seems as though Queen Mantis isn’t for the faint of heart as viewers have been left with ‘nightmares’ after watching some of the more brutal scenes.
Many have flocked to social media in their droves to unpack the episodes so far, with Reddit user AHappy_Cranberry_17 raving: ‘I am so into this show! I have been waiting all week.
‘A part of me is a little frightened of what kind of nightmares this show is going to inspire and ruin my weekend restorative sleep, but eh… what the heck. Sacrifices must be made!’
‘Absolutely, I should not be watching this show (because of night terrors) but I am so hooked. The sacrifices we make…,’ Csw-db-fan replied.
Phantom_pupil21 commented: ‘Been loving the first few episodes and I hope they can keep up the pace of this!!’
As Individual_Top_696 added: ‘10/10 for episode 3. Tremendous acting from both mother and son.’
The official synopsis reads: ‘To stop a copycat criminal, a cop must work with the serial killer behind the original murders – his mother who he’s spent his life trying to forget.’
While details surrounding the remaining episodes are thin on the ground, to avoid any spoilers leaking, the cast recently spoke to SBS Star where they opened up about filming Queen Mantis.
Speaking at a launch event, Jang shed light on sharing the screen with an acting legend, revealing that he got ‘chills’ watching Ko perform on set.
‘I was honestly shocked. She embodied Jung I-shin so completely that I can’t imagine anyone else playing her,’ he said.
‘The character is so complex, and she nailed every layer – I got chills more than once while we were shooting.
‘I fed off that energy and found it easier to lock in while acting. Beyond that, she treated me like a true colleague – almost like I was the senior – with so much consideration. It made the set feel comfortable, and going to work was pure joy.’
‘On set, it felt less like a mother-son dynamic and more like actor to actor,’ Ko agreed. ‘He’s incredibly generous and gives his co-stars real energy.
‘I often forgot we were playing family because I was so delighted and surprised by Jang Dong-yoon the actor.’
