South Park creators have confirmed there will be no new episode tonight after failing to get it done on time.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone have been releasing episodes of season 27 twice a month, with the last one, Wok is Dead, coming out on September 3, in which Satan revealed he was pregnant with Donald Trump’s baby.

The pair famously create the new content as they go, and in a new statement the showrunners admitted that in a rare turn of events they had failed to get the new episode over the line in time, forcing them to postpone it.

Normally, the episode is released at 10pm ET, so this delay was announced just hours ahead of the planned broadcast.

‘Apparently, when you do everything at the last minute, sometimes you don’t get it done. This one’s on us. We didn’t get it done in time. Thanks to Comedy Central and South Park fans for being so understanding. Tune in next week.’

They also revealed the new release schedule, with the next episode now coming out on September 24, followed by October 15 and 29, November 12 and 26 and, December 10.

The creators were last made to delay an episode in 2013, Goth Kids 3: Dawn of Posers, after the studio lost power making this an unprecedented move.

Fans have been speculating what they’ll tackle in the latest episode which was set to come just days after the show faced backlash for its caricature of Charlie Kirk released a few weeks before he was shot dead.

In fact, the re-run of the episode was pulled following the news.

Traditionally the creators share a teaser for the episode and, since none had been dropped for this one it led some fans to believe it was filled with even more inflammatory storylines than usual.

As one X user @g1terrise wrote earlier: ‘There’s no teaser for tomorrow’s south park which means it’s either the craziest episode or they really got nothing.’

Now, with the episode officially delayed, viewers are wondering what could have caused such a rare move with one user @cyanfps posing: ‘They definitely did something they probably shouldn’t have done.’

‘Even when Trump won the election in 2016 early Wednesday morning, they managed to meet their deadline by that evening,’ Nano pointed out.

The show has not held back on parodying Trump and his administration in the new season.

The satire garnered 6,200,000 viewers for its second episode in August which also included Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, 53, as well as Vice President JD Vance, 41.

This marked the highest linear ratings for the show since 2018.

South Park is available to stream on NOW TV and Paramount Plus through Amazon Prime Video.
