Charlie Kirk’s wife Erika has returned to Instagram once again following the conservative activist’s death, sharing the “last photo” that was taken of him alongside another touching tribute.
The 31-year-old was shot while hosting an event at Utah Valley University for his organisation Turning Point USA. A suspect, Tyler Robinson, is in custody and has been charged with seven counts, the BBC reveals, including aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, obstruction of justice and witness tampering.
Erika Kirk first spoke out with a video statement from his office before then posting a series of emotional photos with his dead body on Instagram.
Now, she has posted “one of the last photos” ever taken of him, which shows Charlie Kirk standing at Utah Valley University wearing a white t-shirt with the word “Freedom” on the front. He has one arm up in the air and is holding a stack of red and white caps, which he was giving out to people at the event.

In the caption, she wrote a long message about how much her husband loved “excellence,” writing: “You loved witnessing excellence. It’s why you loved sports so much. You loved watching the best of the best perform at the level of greatness God intended for them.
“This is one of the last photos taken of you before you were murdered. I look at it and can’t help but see excellence. You’re in your element. You’re in athlete mode. Training for this exact moment, mind, body, and soul. To me, this is your ‘Jordan’ photo. Permanently etched in time, held in my heart, as I admire your greatness. Forever.
“I pray you’ve had the most amazing week in Heaven @charliekirk1776 I love you.”
Erika then told a story about when they first started dating, when they went to play basketball together and told each other about their lives as “just two athletes escaping the demands of the world for a minute”. She said he always wore a red bracelet with the words “work harder, be better” on it and every day he did “just that”.
