Orlando Pirates player delivers European pass

Orlando Pirates star Oswin Appollis immediately showed Soweto why the club splashed on him.

Just days after lifting his first professional trophy, the 23-year-old Buccaneer is being showered with praise for a pass that looked straight out of Europe’s elite.

While Tshepang Moremi stole the headlines in the MTN8 final with a brace off the bench, coach Abdeslam Ouaddou ensured Appollis didn’t go unnoticed.

The French-Moroccan tactician singled out Appollis’s assist for Moremi’s first goal as something very special.

“I can tell you that is a very high-level pass,” Ouaddou said of Appollis’s first assist, speaking on SuperSport TV’s Extra Time. “It’s what we are seeing in the top games in Europe, what we are expecting from our players, and what we try to implement in training.

“I agree with you (Matthew Booth) when you say it is very difficult to defend this type of pass. I have been a defender. It is impossible,” the Orlando Pirates mentor added.

Meanwhile, the former Ajax Cape Town academy product is currently on one goal and four assists for the Sea Robbers. The former SuperSport United and Polokwane star from Bishop Lavis, Cape Town, is set to play his first-ever CAF Champions League match this Saturday.

The Sea Robbers will be away to Lesotho Premier League champions Lioli FC. The game will kick off at 15:00 at the Toyota Stadium, Bloemfontein.
