Margot Robbie has been wearing some bold fashion choices recently, and people don’t seem to know how to feel about it. Known for her dreamy Barbie-inspired wardrobe during last year’s press tour, the actress has now stepped into a new fashion era that’s far less pastel pink and far more skin.
Since working with stylist Andrew Mukamal, her latest outfits have been a lot more daring, using sheer fabrics and plunging necklines. She’s been spotted in a corseted Vivienne Westwood dress, multiple rare Mugler pieces from the 1990s, and a Chanel look that left little to the imagination.
On Monday, she arrived at a New York event in a dramatic black Mugler gown with a thigh-high split.

The shift is timed with the release of her new film with Colin Farrell, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, and it seems the wardrobe brief has been taken literally. However, not everyone is impressed.
Online, people have accused her looks of being “too busy” or “too revealing,” with some even suggesting she should “sack the stylist”.
One person wrote: “There seems to be a big push to style her in a more suggestive way. It’s weird that she’s agreeing.”
Another commented: “Her Barbie wardrobe was absolutely stunning, but post-baby she’s wearing less and less.”
The controversy seems to come down to the fact that Margot built a fashion reputation on being glamorous without being overly risqué. Her Barbiecore looks were fun, feminine and accessible, which made her seem both stylish and relatable. This new phase feels like a deliberate move into edgier, more provocative territory, and for some people the sudden switch is jarring. To them, it reads less like personal style and more like a calculated attempt to rebrand her image now that she’s post-Barbie and post-baby.
Fashion experts say the criticism isn’t surprising. A stylist told The Sun: “We can be ruthless when it comes to celebrity fashion choices. Margot usually lands on the best dressed lists, but recently her looks have sparked a stir that’s hard to ignore.”
Whether you love or hate the new vibe, there’s no denying it’s getting attention, and with a big budget romance film to promote, that may well be the point.
