The Buffy reboot is well under way now, with pictures leaking from the set showing various easter eggs and teasers of what we can expect from the pilot. When Sarah Michelle Gellar announced the show would be getting a reboot with Hulu, without Joss Whedon but with Chloe Zhao directing and more stellar members of the team ready to take the reins off Joss Whedon (thank god). Whilst we know for sure Sarah Michelle Gellar is back as Buffy Summers, it seems she’ll be in a more Giles-like, mentor role – with Ryan Kiera Armstrong announced as the new main Slayer the show will be focussing on. Chase Sui Wonders, fresh from her acclaimed turn in the Emmy winning The Studio is also in the mix. But everyone wants to know what other iconic characters are back in the reboot of Buffy – so here are the cast that have teased. Sometimes, by refusing to tease.
The biggest is James Marsters, who played Spike
Right, this is all speculation, but James Marsters is refusing to talk about the Buffy reboot so hard I’ve convinced myself that he is definitely involved and is terrified about giving it away. He said, and I quote, “It’s not a good thing for me to talk about the Buffy reboot. … In the interest of having the project be the best it can be, it’s best that I keep my mouth shut right now … I’m very excited … So I’m going to do my part by doing nothing right now.”
If that isn’t a major clue that he’s involved and is terrified about giving it away, then I dunno what is.
Alyson Hannigan has been doing loads with Sarah Michelle Gellar

Alyson Hannigan and Sarah Michelle Gellar worked on a big campaign together earlier this year, which led to lots of nostalgia from Buffy and Willow fans. Me included. Whilst there’s no official confirmation that Willow is back for the Buffy reboot, I’d include this whole saga as Alyson being one of the cast who’s teased about the show big time. She’s been laying on heaps of praise for the reboot saying she hopes it will be as good and thinks it’s a great idea.

Honestly, maybe my tinfoil hat is on – but I’d love Tom Lenk back in the Buffy reboot because his character has already been teased as having a big arc when he was in the cast of Angel season five. Speaking in an interview on the red carpet in April, Tom Lenk heaped praise on SMG.
Maybe not a big tease but a character that makes the most sense to come back. WE BEG!
