People are using ‘he is stable, you are deep’ TikTok trend to expose their type, and it’s wild

If you’ve been scrolling on TikTok lately, chances are you’ve stumbled across people talking about the “he is stable, you are deep” trend. And if you were sat there thinking, “what on earth does that even mean?”, don’t worry, you’re not the only one. It’s one of those things that suddenly takes over your FYP, and everyone else seems to just get it.

So, what actually is this whole “stable vs deep” thing?

Basically, people are using the sound from a Lizzy McAlpine song called “Pushing It Down and Praying” which is as emotional as it sounds. The lyric “he is stable, you are deep” plays in the background, and TikTokers post side-by-side comparisons of couples, friendships, or even random stuff like soup choices or uni majors. The lyric itself feels like it was designed to rip your heart out. And TikTok did what TikTok always does: Turned it into a trend that’s funny and slightly painful at the same time.

The idea is to show two vibes: One person who’s calm, consistent, and safe, aka the stable one, and the other who’s intense, emotional, and a little mysterious, aka the deep one. Think Jeremiah (stable) and Conrad (deep) from The Summer I Turned Pretty, or Stefan (stable) and Damon (deep) from The Vampire Diaries. You get the gist.

So, what do “stable” and “deep” even mean?

In simple terms, “stable” is the safe option. These people are predictable, steady, and easy to be around. You always know where you stand with them. “Deep”, on the other hand, is more about emotional intensity. It’s vulnerability, passion, late-night talks, and sometimes a bit of chaos. It’s exciting but also not always easy.

That’s why the trend is hitting so hard. It’s not just a joke about soup or TV characters, loads of people are lowkey using it to reflect on their own love lives. And maybe even to think about that one ex.
