It’s not an understatement to suggest Wrestlepalooza could help define the future of WWE.

This weekend, the company launches what has been described as a ‘blockbuster’ new premium live event to kickstart its new US-only deal with ESPN.

After the recent announcement that WrestleMania will head to Saudi Arabia in 2027, there are hopes the new PLE can become a huge success to give the company another flagship show on that level.

It’s safe to say WWE is taking this event seriously, with a stacked lineup complete with what a recent press release described as two ‘earth-shattering’ in-ring returns.

From AJ Lee’s first match in over a decade to one of John Cena’s final few matches, the wrestling giant is expected to go all out.

It’s a match not without some backlash where Brock Lesnar is concerned – but he will challenge John Cena one last time as the greatest of all time edges closed towards his retirement in December.

WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre

Cody Rhodes had some time off recently during filming for Street Fighter, but Drew McIntyre was blamed on-screen after a brutal assault. Now, they’ll meet in the ring for a massive title match.

There are currently some mixed messages around WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton and her status for Wrestlepalooza.

Fan photos from the on-site story in Indianapolis show an event t-shirt featuring the five confirmed matches, and a triple threat featuring Tiffany defending her hold against Nia Jax and Jade Cargill.

Tiffy was pulled from this week’s NXT Homecoming event and hasn’t wrestled since SmackDown last week, but tonight’s show will probably make things clearer.

WWE roster and champions

Heading into Wrestlepalooza, WWE has a stacked and talented roster from top to bottom with some huge names holding championship gold, and some of them will be highlighted this weekend.

At the top of the Raw roster, Seth Rollins is still World Heavyweight Champion, while the Women’s World Title is vacant until tomorrow night, after Naomi stepped away following her pregnancy announcement.

SmackDown’s WWE Championship is held by Cody Rhodes, who will defend against Drew McIntyre this weekend, while Tiffany Stratton – who may be out of action due to injury – is still WWE Women’s Champion.

When it comes to the men’s and women’s Intercontinental Titles, Dominik Mysterio and Becky Lynch still hold the gold, while Sami Zayn recently won the United States Title, with Giulia claiming that title on the women’s side.

In the tag ranks, Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and JD McDonagh are on top for Raw, while Wyatt Sicks members Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis have been dominating the division on SmackDown.
