Authorities continue to investigate the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose body was discovered in a Tesla registered to pop singer D4vd in Los Angeles earlier this month.
According to NBC, on September 8, 2025, the LAPD responded to a tow yard in Hollywood following reports of a “foul odour” coming from a vehicle. Officers discovered a decomposing body stashed in the front boot of the Tesla, which had reportedly been in the yard for several days.
D4vd, who was on tour at the time, was reported to be “fully cooperating with the authorities,” according to a spokesperson.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner later confirmed that the remains belonged to 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. According to TMZ, Celeste had been reported missing from Lake Elsinore on April 5, 2024.
At the time she was found, she was wearing a tube top, black leggings, a yellow metal chain bracelet, and stud earrings. She had black hair and weighed approximately 71 lbs. The medical examiner noted a tattoo on her right index finger reading “Shhh…”.

The medical examiner confirmed that Celeste had a tattoo on her right index finger reading “Shhh…”. TMZ reported that D4vd has a similar tattoo in the same location, though authorities have not commented on any connection. Also, it’s worth noting that the tattoo isn’t unique. Many celebrities including Rihanna and Lily Allen have the same tattoo.
Additionally, a 2024 song recorded by D4vd, which leaked recently, reportedly mentions someone named Celeste. Authorities have not confirmed a connection.
Celeste’s family released a statement

Following the identification of Celeste’s body, her family issued a statement via a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral costs. They wrote, “She was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, and friend. Her family is heartbroken and devastated by this tragic loss. They are seeking help to lay her body to rest. Any funds you are able to donate are greatly appreciated.”
Celeste’s mother also told TMZ that her daughter had a boyfriend named David, though further details were not provided.

A former teacher of Celeste, who taught her at Lakeland Village Middle School, spoke to media in a video shared on TikTok and reposted by TMZ. The teacher claimed that Celeste had met D4vd online and “ran away to Hollywood with him once. And the police brought her back to school. Then she disappeared again in May 2024.”
He also noted that Celeste was “constantly absent” from school.

Authorities executed a search warrant at a Hollywood Hills property where D4vd had been staying, though he did not own the property. Law enforcement sources confirmed to ABC 7 that the search lasted 12 hours and luminol was used to check for traces of blood.
Neighbours also commented on the Tesla and D4vd’s presence in the area. One neighbour told ABC7, “It’s a little weird to see a car that I haven’t seen here for a long time. It had a big dent on it, had a Texas plate on it. So, all a little odd. But at the same time, you know, people could be hanging out with friends for a long time.”
The Tesla had been parked in front of the Hollywood Hills home where D4vd was staying, as well as at two other locations on the same street. Sources told ABC7 that D4vd owns multiple vehicles, and different people had access to them at various times.
D4vd was on his Withered World Tour when the body was discovered. He cancelled his scheduled Seattle performance after Celeste was identified.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities have not named any suspects or persons of interest. The LAPD has not released a cause of death or the final manner of investigation. Officials have said there is no wider threat to the public.
