Consumers are seeking plant-based meals, snacks and treats more than ever. But they don’t want them to just be vegan, they want them to be nourishing, protein-rich and full of nutrients. That’s why Trubar was born.
Founder Erica Groussman started the company in 2019 with a goal of crafting 100% plant-based snack bars that are gluten-free, and free from sugar alcohols and seed oils.
What is Trubar?
That’s when Trubar Plant-Based Protein Bars were born. The flavor that stood out to me is Daydreaming About Donuts, which is inspired by a glazed donut. That’s not a flavor you see very often, if ever, in the protein bar world. Calling the bars “indulgent nutrition”, they offer 190-calories, 12-grams of protein, 11-grams of fiber and only 6-grams of added sugar.
Trubar Ingredients and Flavors
The ingredients list boasts almonds, brown rice, pea protein and cassava, which is where much of the protein and fiber comes from. The bars also contain tapioca fiber, organic cane sugar, medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) and RSPO palm oil, which is palm oil that meets sustainability standards for promoting responsible production and trade of palm oil.
Trubar now comes in multiple flavors, including Strawberry Shorty Got Cake, Whole Lotta Macchiato, Whipped for Key Lime, It’s Mint to Be Chip, Shake It, Bake It, Birthday Cake It, Oh Oh Cookie Dough, Cocoa for Coconuts, Get in My Belly, PB & Jelly, Saltylicious Almond Love, Smother Fudger Peanut Butter and Sweet & Dreamy, Cookies & Creamy. Trubar also makes a KiDS line of bars. Bundles and variety packs are available on their website.
A 5-count box retails for $7.89 at Target, and variety packs of Oh Oh Cookie Dough and Get in My Belly, PB & Jelly are available at some Costco locations. You can find other retailers who sell Trubar by using their store locator.
Trubar Fans Are Leaving Rave Reviews
Fans are leaving rave reviews on Target’s website. “This was very satisfying. I liked everything about it, trying to get more protein in a cleaner bar”, said one person. “This was the first protein snack I decided to try and I fell in love immediately. Now I can’t wait for my trubars to come in the mail every time I order them. I just can’t resist! They’re really good and taste more like a treat then a protein bar. Delicious”, stated another person.
I’ve been a fan of Trubar since I got my hands on the Costco pack, but I simply cannot wait to try out the other flavors (I’m looking at you, Strawberry Shorty Got Cake).
