College Program Trolled Bill Belichick, Jordon Hudson After Beating UNC Saturday

Bill Belichick’s up-and-down first season at UNC continued Sunday, as the Tar Heels were blown out by UCF.

The 34-9 road loss to the Knights moved UNC to 0-2 against major conference opponents under Belichick, with both losses coming by large margins. North Carolina also lost 48-14 to TCU in its season opener, and both of its wins have come against Charlotte and Richmond.

“There are a lot of things that we need to do a better job of and they were just better than us today,” Belichick said following Saturday’s defeat.

The win wasn’t enough for the official UCF football X/Twitter account, which couldn’t resist trolling Belichick and his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, after the game.

If you’re unfamiliar, that image of the UCF mascot lifting up the “W” with his legs is mocking Belichick and Hudson’s viral beach yoga session back in March.

This is now two opponents who trolled UNC after beating them this season, with one of TCU’s stars also taking a jab at Hudson following the Week 1 win.

Belichick may have given UCF some pregame ammo

Throughout his coaching career, Belichick has been notorious for not wanting to say anything controversial, but he may have inadvertently provided some bulletin board material in the days leading up to yesterday’s game.

Early last week, Belichick made the mistake of calling UCF “Central” during a press conference. UCF fans and the program itself have made it known they don’t want to be known as “Central” or “Central Florida,” and head coach Scott Frost made an indirect reference to Belichick’s comments in his postgame media session Saturday.

“We’re not Central Florida, we’re UCF,” Frost said.

Some extra meaning for Frost

Frost, who is in his first season of his second stint as UCF head coach, admitted that beating Belichick carried some extra weight.

Frost did also offer some words of encouragement for the legendary coach, who he played for with the New York Jets back in the late 1990s.

“I think it does to me personally. And that’s no knock on him, that’s respect to him for everything that he’s accomplished,” Frost said when asked if beating Belichick had added meaning. “You know he was my position coach and coordinator for two years, my first two years in the NFL. I know how smart he is and how good a coach he is. You know, this isn’t all on him. When you take over a new program right now in college, I did it too, it just takes a while to get the team together.

“I feel like we got a little head start on it, getting here a little earlier and maybe getting involved in the portal earlier. It means a lot to me to win for these guys, but I got so much respect and admiration for Coach Belichick and he’s going to get it going. There’s just no question.”
