Hot conditions and isolated showers are expected in KwaZulu-Natal – Bundlezy

Hot conditions and isolated showers are expected in KwaZulu-Natal

KwaZulu-Natal residents started the morning with warm minimums, especially along the coast. Durban and Port St. John’s began the day at 18°C, while Richards Bay started even warmer, climbing steadily into the 30s.

Forecaster Joel Guy noted, “Richards Bay and Ulundi will reach about 35 degrees, while Durban is expected to settle at 31 degrees by the afternoon.”

The inland city of Pietermaritzburg will also experience a scorching 31°C, ensuring no part of the province escapes the heat.

Afternoon showers are possible in parts of KwaZulu-Natal

Despite the hot conditions, forecasters expect isolated showers in some parts of KwaZulu-Natal later in the afternoon.

Guy said, “We anticipate brief but isolated showers in parts of the interior, which will relieve the otherwise hot conditions.”

However, the rainfall will remain scattered and limited, offering only partial relief for residents in need of cooling weather.

Wind and coastal warnings

Forecasters have warned about damaging winds and rough seas along the East Coast. Winds may reach up to 40 km/h, making beach activities risky. Fishermen and small-craft operators are advised to exercise extreme caution.

Guy warned, “The combination of strong coastal winds and high waves could create dangerous conditions, so residents should avoid unnecessary travel along the coast.”

Despite these risks, most of KwaZulu-Natal will endure dry and hot conditions, especially in the northern and central areas.
