Fans of German Donner Kebab (GDK) are in for a treat as the fast food chain has just unveiled a brand new value menu.

The kebab chain is scrapping its Value 2.0 offering and replacing it with aFiver Menu which, you guessed it, features dishes for £5 a pop.

There are currently five items available at this price, including the GDK Don Burger, which sees doner meat served in a soft brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, onion, dill pickle and burger sauce, as well as the Fiver Munch Wrap filled with your choice of doner meat, onion, tomato, crispy fries and GDK’s garlic sauce.

There’s also a Fiver Doner Grilled Cheese and two GDK x Doritos Loaded Kebags.

For those curious, the grilled cheese is made with waffle bread, chicken or beef doner meat, melted cheese sauce and gooey Gouda which is toasted until crisp.

While the Kebags see bags of Doritos opened up and the crisps (Cool Original or Chilli Heatwave) are loaded with doner meat, tomatoes, onions, cheese sauce and GDK’s three signature sauces to create a twist on nachos.

And that’s not all. GDK has confirmed new fan-favourites will be added to the Fiver Menu in the coming months and those signed up to Student Beans can get a further 15% off their £5 food.

Speaking about the new launch, Chris Waters, GDK’s chief marketing officer, said: ‘We know value matters more than ever, but we also know our customers don’t want to compromise on flavour. This is about giving people everyday access to GDK for less.

‘The new Fiver menu is us responding to customer feedback, not only on affordable options, but lighter portions too. Stay tuned – it’s just the beginning as we’ll be adding more fan-favourites to the menu very soon.’

GDK first launched in the UK in 2015 and has expanded rapidly in the last decade, now having more than 150 locations in city centre high streets, shopping centres and travel hubs.

How does GDK’s new Fiver menu compare to other fast food chain value menus?

Several other major UK fast food chains have value menus or offers currently available. Let’s see how the prices compare…

At McDonald’s there’s the Saver Menu and Breakfast Saver Menu, which both offer items for under £3. Here customers can get a hamburger for as little as £1.19, and a sausage sandwich from £2.99.

However, many of McDonald’s other regular burgers are more expensive than GDK’s £5 one, for instance the McSpicy is £5.89, the McPlant is £5.09 and the Quarter Pounder with Cheese is £5.39.

When it comes to wraps, McDonald’s wraps are priced between £2.29 and £5.29, meaning that most of them are cheaper than GDK’s Fiver Munch Wrap.

KFC has a Cult Classic Savers menu, with items under £5, however all of these are ‘mini’ versions of the dishes, instead of full-size.

Mini wraps and burgers start from £2.19 each, but you can get mini meals for £3 or £5.

The Mini Fillet Burger Variety Meal is £5 and includes the burger, a mini fillet or popcorn chicken, fries and a drink for that price, whereas the GDK fiver dishes don’t seem to come with any sides or drinks, you’d have to pay an additional £2.99 to upgrade to a meal.

KFC full-size burgers are more expensive than a fiver though, with prices starting from £5.99 for the Fillet Burger and Zinger Burger and rising to £7.99 for the Zinger Stacker.

Popeyes also recently launched a Savin’ Menu, with prices starting from just £1.99.

Several of the chicken chain’s classic items are featured on the menu, including chicken tenders and wings, which feature that iconic ‘shatter crunch’ the chain is known for.

There’s also a new Savin’ Wrap for £1.99 (spicy or classic), fries for £1.99 (regular), a biscuit and gravy for £2.59, Mac and Cheese for £3.50 and Mini Whipz for £1.99.

The most expensive item on the list is the Gravy Savin’ Box which for £5.69 contains one chicken tender, one piece of signature chicken, one hot wing regular fries and a pot of Cajun gravy.
