Love Island’s Shakira Khan reveals her villa friendship with ‘feud’ girl was edited out

Love Island finalist Shakira Khan spilt all the villa fued tea on the latest episode of the We Need To Talk podcast with Paul C. Brunson.

The 22-year-old influencer is part of the iconic season 12 big three, along with her villa “sisters” and fellow finalists Toni and Yasmin. But in a new interview, she revealed a surprising friendship between her and another Islander.

Shakira said that she and Irish Islander Megan Clarke were actually really good friends in the villa, even though it looked like they never spoke.

“Is there anyone in particular that comes to mind that you think, if we had seen the fullness of their character, it would have been good?” Paul C. Brunson asked her.

“Megan,” Shakira said immediately.

“And she got a redemption arc! But, watching it back, I can see how it panned out, I get it, she gets it. But that’s not the Megan I know – you wouldn’t even know we were friends.”

Back in the villa, Megan was seen as part of the other side of the divide. She was close friends with Meg and Helena, and was barely ever shown talking to the other girls.

“It fit the narrative of the divide that she was in that group and there was no crossover,” Shakira said

“But we always said Megan was he glue between the two groups. I had a really good friendship with Megan.”

Megan returned to the show with Blu after getting kicked off. This time, she was shown being nicer to the big three, and even got some flack from Dejon for not sticking up for Meg during an argument between her and Shakira.

“People were shocked that when she came back in she was friends with us, but we were always friends. It just didn’t get shown,” Shakira said.

She doesn’t deny that there was definitely a general villa divide with the girls though.

“I’m not going to sit here and say there was no divide, that was my lived experience, and my friends would say the same. People can sit there and say there was no divide, there was a divide, and that’s okay.”
