Atletico Madrid have told Manchester United how much they must pay for Conor Gallagher in the January transfer window, according to reports.
It is believed that United, along with Crystal Palace, were both keen on a deal for the 25-year-old England international midfielder this summer.
Gallagher ended up staying at Atletico, where he has been since August 2024 after joining the La Liga side from his boyhood club Chelsea.
Atletico paid around £34m for Gallagher and he’s played a total of 56 games for Diego Simeone’s team to date, earning the nickname ‘Pitbull’.
Gallagher, though, has only started one of Atletico’s five La Liga matches so far this term and it’s now thought he could be on the move in January.

United, Palace and Tottenham are all said to be interested in a deal for Gallagher when the transfer window reopens this winter.
Atletico are open to sale if they receive an offer over €60m (£52.4m), according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.

Despite setting a price for the Englishman, Atletico view Gallagher as an important player and ideally would like to keep him in the Spanish capital.
Gallagher is under contract at the Metropolitano Stadium until the summer of 2029, having signed a five-year deal with Atletico last year.
It’s no secret that United are keen to recruit a new midfielder while Palace have long wanted to bring Gallagher back to Selhurst Park after he spent the 2021-22 season on loan there.

Gallagher become a fan favourite during his spell with the south London club and was named Crystal Palace Player of the Year in 2022.
Former Palace defender James Tomkins believes Gallagher would be the perfect replacement for Eberechi Eze, who left the Eagles this summer to join Arsenal.
‘I think Conor Gallagher would be a good replacement for Eberechi Eze,’ he told Boyle Sports, who offer the latest Premier League betting odds.
‘Conor offers something I haven’t seen in many players, and that’s his energy.
‘He brings so much energy to the team. He could fit into any team because of that.
‘That’s what you want, someone that will run through walls for you, and Conor’s one of those players.
‘He doesn’t give you a minute’s rest on the ball. You see him in the middle of the park, hunting people down.
‘He was brilliant for Palace. I’d like to see him back at Palace for sure, and I think the fans will too.’
