Things are spiralling fast for Jack Branning in EastEnders, as a major new twist sees the copper cross the line in a big way, risking his career, his family, and possibly his life.
After months of pressure and emotional strain, Jack is now entangled in a messy cover-up involving a gun, a shooting, and one of Walford’s most dangerous men, Ravi Gulati.
It all kicks off when Jack is forced to lie about his whereabouts on the night of the recent shooting. DS Spencer arrives to question him, but instead of coming clean, Jack doubles down and gives a false alibi.
Denise Fox, who knows Jack better than anyone, immediately clocks that something isn’t right. Her suspicions grow, and it’s clear she’s not going to drop it without answers.
Meanwhile, Ravi is pulled in for police questioning and does what he does best: flips the script. Rather than stay quiet or deny involvement, he takes a gamble and tells the police that Jack was with him the night of the shooting.
This lands Jack in even deeper trouble. Scrambling to explain the lie, he claims he was trying to recruit Ravi as an informant.
At this point, Jack makes a very questionable decision: he agrees to get rid of the gun with Ravi. It’s a desperate attempt to tidy up the mess before it explodes, but things don’t go to plan. When DS Spencer reappears at just the wrong moment, Jack panics and has a change of heart.
Instead of meeting Ravi as agreed, Jack bails without warning. Ravi, furious at being stood up, later corners Jack in the Square. But Jack holds his nerve. He tells Ravi he is getting rid of the gun, just not in the way Ravi expected.
As part of his calculated plan, Jack orders Ravi to leave Walford and act as a decoy to mislead the police while he disposes of the gun.
But instead, Jack has alternative plans. He sneaks into Ravi’s flat at No. 5A and plants the gun, planning to land Ravi in it.
The situation escalates when Priya Nandra-Hart unexpectedly returns home. Jack is forced to hide. Will Priya catch him red-handed? Or will he get rid of Ravi once and for all?
The big question now, though, is: will Jack regret crossing Ravi?
