Retired Proteas player AB De Villiers has trended on social media after a clip of him vaping at a SA20 match went viral.
Although he formally retired in 2021, the now 41-year-old enjoyed a stint at the 2025 World Championship of Legends (WCL).
De Villiers is widely regarded as one of South Africa’s greatest cricketers.

On the X app, retired Proteas player AB de Villiers trended for all the wrong reasons.
The star known as “Mr 360”, the retired cricketer, was spotted in the stands at the SA20 match between Pretoria Capitals vs MI Cape Town in Centurion.
As the camera panned to him, de Villers was spotted taking a drag out of his vape – an electronic cigarette.
The 41-year-old appeared surprised at being caught in the act.
The footage went viral on social media and the Indian digital platform RVCJ Media.
X users, including cricket fans, had mixed reactions to the imagery.

AB De Villiers has kept himself busy post-cricket by lining up business and investment opportunities. He’s also voiced his desire to get involved in cricket coaching or mentoring, particularly in the IPL.
De Villiers – also an avid golfer – is a well-known brand ambassador and investor in a health and nutrition supplement company, Supply6.
