Acquisition of Hotel in Brussels Strengthens European Presence

The Pestana group announced this Wednesday, the 22nd, the acquisition of the Pestana Brussels Schuman, a four-star hotel located in the heart of Brussels.

With 150 rooms, this is the Portuguese group’s sixth hotel unit in Europe, reinforcing its internationalization strategy.

José Roquette, chief development officer from Pestana Hotel Group, cited in the group’s statement, states that “the integration of this new hotel into the portfolio represents another relevant step in our internationalization strategy, which we have been consolidating over the last few decades”. The value of the investment was not disclosed.

The new hotel is situated in the prestigious Schuman district, just meters from the European Parliament and the European Commission, and offers a range of amenities including a lounge, gym and versatile meeting rooms. Reservations for the Pestana Brussels Schuman will be available from November 2025.

With more than five decades of activity, the Pestana group operates more than 100 hotels in Portugal and abroad. Since 2010, the company has invested in the main European cities, with units already in London, Berlin, Barcelona, ​​Amsterdam, Madrid and now Brussels, as well as a hotel under construction in Paris, scheduled to open in 2027.

José Roquette adds that “by entering this market, the Pestana Hotel Group is consolidating its presence in Europe, where it already operates in Portugal, Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, and is preparing the opening of a hotel in France, thus advancing its international expansion strategy”.

Currently, the group operates under four brands: Pestana Hotels & Resorts, Pestana Collection Hotels, Pestana Pousadas de Portugal and Pestana CR7 Lifestyle Hotels.

Present in 16 countries, it has more than 12,000 rooms available in Europe, Africa and America, consolidating itself as the largest multinational hotel group of Portuguese origin.

In 2024, Pestana Hotel Group’s revenues increased by 17%, totaling 651.5 million euros, with around 65% coming from the hotel sector and 19% from the real estate area, under the Pestana Residences brand.
