CANTON GROUP
In a new attempt to confront the crisis of disappearances took shape in the State of Mexico with the creation of a Specialized Search Group which, according to the state government, will work without interruptions to locate people whose whereabouts are unknown.
The announcement was formalized through an agreement published in the Official Government Newspaper, which establishes that the Secretariat of Security and the Search Commission will unite capabilities to activate immediate operations, favoring speed and coordination.
With this, the agreement, signed by Cristóbal Castañeda Camarillo and Alma Patricia Bernal Oceguera, defines that the response must be constant, operating 24 hours a day.
However, for many families who have gone years without hearing from their loved ones, the news brings relief, but also deep skepticism. “We want to believe, but we cannot get our hopes up that easily. We have already wasted too much time waiting for someone to do something,” laments Teresa, sister of a woman who has been missing since 2021. She assures that the only thing they expect is for the patrols to go out, search and find, not for everything to remain in speeches.
The agreement establishes specific obligations: Security Secretariat must report arrests linked to cases of disappearance and deliver video recordings that facilitate investigations; while the Search Commission will have to prepare and certify operational personnel on issues of victim care, human rights and national protocols.
The official promise is that this model will not generate additional expenses, since each agency will absorb its own costs.
