What Is Special About Choco Changer’s Sustainability Practices?
The fair trade brand’s motto “Be a choco changer”, is a nod to their dedication to sustainable and ethical cocoa farming. Their practices are different because their beans are traceable and sourced directly from farming cooperatives so they know where and how their beans are grown.
Farmers also receive a premium on top of their bean prices so they can earn a living wage. Additionally, Choco Changer commits to cooperatives and farmers for a contract of at least 5 years, providing income security. They also provide investments through Tony’s Open Chain so farmers have access to additional markets.
Per Choco Changer’s website, “with every bite of our Chocoeur CHOCO CHANGER, you support sustainable cocoa cultivation, transparent cocoa supply chains and fair, long-term partnerships with farmers in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana. Cocoa, sugar and vanilla used for the chocolate bars are Fairtrade certified”. You can read more about Choco Changer on Aldi’s Sustainability webpage.
With these promises, not only are Choco Changer’s bars deliciously unique, you can feel good about their farming practices.
