Aldi has grown into a cult-favorite kitchen and home goods store, in addition to being a discount, good-quality grocer. Each week, they pack in a new round of items for cooking, baking, dining, entertaining and decorating in their Finds aisle, and fans go wild for it. Many of their products are lower-cost dupes of brand-name items that shoppers say are just as good as the originals, or at least a great buy for the price.
One of the most popular items Aldi sells in this section is their wood cutting boards. Generally, they’re made from acacia, bamboo or maple and come in all shapes and sizes. Recently, they sold leaf- and pumpkin-shaped maple boards for the fall season, along with a host of acacia boards, both large and small.
This week, Aldi is getting back on the bamboo train with Crofton’s Bamboo Carving Board with Countertop Edge, which is a unique piece that caught my eye. Besides a groove around the perimeter to catch all the juices while you’re chopping, it also has a large lip that hangs over the edge of your countertop, keeping the board flush and steady during use.
While Aldi hasn’t released the specifications for this board yet, it appears to be large enough to accommodate a host of vegetables, cheeses and meats so that you can prepare ingredients for a big pot of soup, a family-sized casserole, or a skillet meal for a crowd. And given the holiday season is fast approaching, a board like this will come in handy when prepping a large feast for your friends and family.
Bamboo Carving Board With Countertop Edge, $7.99 at Aldi

Personally, I can see myself using this board to dice onions and celery and cube sourdough bread for stuffing, peel and chop potatoes to be cooked and mashed, trim green beans and Brussels sprouts, and carve the entire bird once it comes out of the oven. And because this board has the countertop edge, it won’t slip and slide around while pulling out the wishbone.
Bamboo is also known for being durable, naturally antibacterial and gentle on knives, which makes this purchase all the more convincing. And as if that wasn’t a bonus enough, it retails for just $7.99 at Aldi. For comparison, a similar bamboo cutting board retails at Walmart for $48.87, and it appears to be made with the same material and boasts the same drip grooves and countertop edge.

To keep your bamboo board in good shape, hand-wash it with mild soap and water, then use half a lemon and a smattering of salt to scrub it and disinfect, if needed. Be sure to rinse and dry it immediately to prevent warping. Wooden cutting boards should never go in the dishwasher.
Aldi’s board will drop with their new round of Finds on Oct. 29. If you’re a cutting board collector, by chance, they will also be dropping a Bamboo Cutting Board with Knife Sharpener for the same price. You simply can’t beat that deal.
