It’s that time of year to add slow-cooked meats to our menu. Whether that’s a roast in the crock pot, a beef stew or braised short ribs, these dishes define fall cooking. Short ribs are perhaps one of the most prized cuts of meat because they react well to being seared, then simmered in a flavorful broth. They’re full of collagen and marbled with fat, so the result is phenomenal.
Aldi is dropping their prized Black Angus Bone-In Short Ribs that will do the trick. And in typical Aldi fashion, they’re charging much less per pound than most markets at just $7.29 per pound. If you’re a short rib lover like me, you’ll be stocking up and planning your meal plan around them.
You can braise them in red wine and aromatic vegetables, coat them in Chinese five-spice and simmer in ginger, garlic, soy sauce and green onion or slow cook them in a classic beef stock and tomato sauce. They’re great seared and braised in a Dutch oven, or you can sear them in the Instant Pot and cook them on the pressure cooker setting. Alternatively, you can sear them in a pan on the stove and transfer them to a slow cooker to simmer while you’re at work.

When Aldi carried them last time, fans took to social media to share their pleasure. “They are amazing!”, said one fan. “They were the nicest short ribs I’ve found in awhile”, another posted. “Made it with some cheese grits and made a sauce from the marinade. Turned out excellent!”, exclaimed another. “This is one of my favorites! It may be a little bit of a splurge but so worth it! Special occasions!”, said another.
The Aldi short ribs are available starting today, and they won’t stick around long. One shopper said “They won’t be on the shelf for more than a week. It’s a special in this weeks ad”. We’re going to trust their assessment and head to the store A.S.A.P.
