They warn about an attack with a stone on Cupules Avenue; motorists urge caution

MÉRIDA.- A user of social networks alerted citizens about an incident that occurred in the Cupules Avenuein Meridawhere his vehicle was damaged after being hit by a stone on the medallion.

Apparently it was thrown by an individual who was walking in the area.

The publication was made this Saturday afternoon by the user Andrea Alvarezwho asked motorists, pedestrians and cyclists to take precautions when traveling through that sector.

According to the story, the incident would have occurred on Friday night around 10:30 pm at the height of the Brunet Celarain kindergarten.

While the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light, the occupants heard a loud explosion inside the car. Upon descending, they discovered that the rear glass had been destroyed.

At first, they thought that another car had hit them; however, there were no vehicles or objects to explain the damage.

Minutes later, two elderly people approached, visibly nervous, and pointed out that a subject had hit the window of their car with a stone, so they left the site to take shelter and returned when they noticed the police presence.

A patrol circulating in the area provided immediate support and requested reinforcements.

According to the report that those affected received, Surveillance cameras would have captured the alleged aggressor entering a nearby church, from where he would have managed to escape before being located.

No injuries were reported, but the stone used caused considerable damage and scattered glass inside the car..

The affected person urged the population to remain alert when traveling through this area, since the person responsible has not been arrested and could represent a risk to other people.
