ITV soaps Emmerdale and Coronation Street have been doing everything they can to build up the excitement for their upcoming crossover event – aptly titled Corriedale – and it’s working!
Over the past few weeks, several clues have been dropped in episodes which have left us with countless theories circling our brains.
Though the big bosses have been keeping the storylines on the down low, they have slowly been releasing little teasers to whet our appetites.
When I spoke to Corrie boss Kate Brooks about what to expect, all I could get out of her was that the episode is set to be ‘unmissable’.
‘It’s very exciting. A lot of hard work has gone into making it brilliant!’
So, without further ado, let’s take a look at all the clues and theories so far!
Which characters will be in the crossover?
The first characters officially confirmed to be involved in the crossover are Corrie’s DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) and Emmerdale’s Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).
‘What leads Lisa and Aaron to find their lives intertwined on a dark and foreboding night in January?’ A spokesperson previously said.
‘And which other Coronation Street and Emmerdale favourites will feature in the action packed and climactic episode?
‘While the exact plot is being kept under wraps, what we can confirm is a one off one hour spectacular, featuring explosive scenes, nail biting drama and never before seen interactions between some of the nation’s most loved soap characters.’
Who can viewers vote for to appear in Corriedale?
Earlier this month, viewers took to social media to vote for a shortlist of characters they want to see interact during the crossover.
Last week, it was revealed that four scenes were being filmed between several of these characters, with viewers ultimately being given the chance to choose which one will air as part of the Corriedale episode.
The characters involved in the scenes will be:
- Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and Carla Connor (Alison King)
- Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) and Roy Cropper (David Neilson)
- Sam Dingle (James Hooton) and Kirk Sutherland (Andrew Whyment)
- Ross Barton (Michael Parr) and Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford)
Details of how to vote will be revealed soon.
A new trailer for the event revealed that Corrie’s David Platt actor Jack P Shepherd will also be involved, as well as Jonny McPherson, who plays Emmerdale’s Dr Liam Cavanagh.
On top of all of that, Danny Miller seemed to let slip that Steve McDonald star Simon Gregson has also been filming for the crossover during an appearance on I’m A Celebrity… Unpacked.
What happens in Corriedale? Trailer reveals
If the latest trailer for the special episode is anything to go by, then it is safe to say that Corriedale will be explosive – literally!
It has been confirmed that a number of beloved characters from both ITV soaps will be involved in a multi-vehicle pile-up on a dark country road just outside Hotten.
From the dialogue in the trailer, which includes Liam pointing out that the situation could be serious, and Lisa warning someone that fire is spreading to a car, it seems as though countless lives could be in danger.
Could we be set to say goodbye to a character or two in dramatic fashion?
All the Corriedale clues so far
Though we’re still weeks off from the crossover, fans have already spotted clues in episodes of the ITV soaps.
In recent Emmerdale scenes, Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) revealed that one of her clients was a ‘bridezilla in Manchester’ who wanted a ‘choir’ at her wedding.
In the Corrie episode that followed on ITV, Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) told Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) that she wanted their dementia choir to perform at her wedding.

Fans instantly took to social media to point out the Easter egg, with one saying: ‘wait belle dingle is planning debbie webster’s wedding?!?!?!?’
‘Belle Dingle is Debbie Webster and Ronnie Bailey’s wedding planner,’ another said, while a third added: ‘belle planning debbies wedding what the hell is this crossover even about?’
The clue that really got us talking was a wanted poster of Emmerdale’s John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) on the wall of the Weatherfield police station.
With John currently in the wind after his reign of terror, it’s no wonder that the search has been widened from the Dales to Manchester.
In more recent Corrie scenes, Roy Cropper has been acting shifty after revealing that he’s writing to prisoners and their mothers.
This instantly jumped out to us as odd, and sparked some major theories…
All the Corriedale theories so far
Emmerdale has plenty of characters that have been, or are currently, in prison, and any one of them could be one of Roy’s pen pals.
Could we be set to discover that Roy has actually been in contact with an Emmerdale resident the whole time?
In recent episodes, we learnt that the mother Roy has been writing to is called Alice, which one clever fan on Twitter/X deduced was an anagram of Celia.
Could Roy be writing to Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths) and therefore be in more danger than anyone realises?
Other theories have involved John Sugden’s demise, with the wanted poster and the fact that detective Lisa and husband Aaron are the two characters confirmed to be in the episode fuelling speculation.
TikTok comments have also theorised a connection between the gang Becky Swain (Amy Cudden) has been in hiding from and the gang run by Celia and Ray Walters (Joe Absolom).
Could Becky, Celia and Ray be set to face their downfall all at once?
