All tricks, no treats: King’s College London students share their Halloween disasters

Ah, Halloween, a holiday that is always one for the history books. Fake blood, questionable couple costumes, and enough drama to fill an entire season of Pretty Little Liars or Gossip Girl make it a night to remember. Between the hangovers, surprises and heartbreaks, King’s students never miss when it comes to chaos.

So, we asked students to share their Halloween horror and disaster stories and let’s just say, the tricks were way scarier than the treats.

‘Did a couples costume with my guy friend without realising it would scare away the hot guy’s’

A friendship so pure…it repelled everyone else? But, let’s be honest, did we not see this coming? To anyone who is looking for a special someone this Halloween, let this be a reminder that platonic love can be more terrifying than a zombie apocalypse.

‘My girlfriend said she loved her ex at a Halloween party’

Ouch. Seems like the girlfriend got possessed by the spirit of Halloween and turned into a ghost.
Jokes aside, if she’s confessing to her ex at a Halloween party, it’s your sign to vanish faster than the vodka bottles at pres.

‘Two of my talking stages showed up in the same costume and became best friends. I woke up blocked.’

Sorry? Two talking stages, one costume and zero dignity left. If this happened to me, you would not be hearing about it out of my mouth.

‘I asked my talking stage and his brother (who had liked me) to dress up as Damon and Stefan while I went as Elena. I don’t talk to either anymore.’

I don’t know whether I should applaud you for the courage you mustered in asking them, or laugh at how badly this failed for you. All I have to say is: Rest in peace Mystic Falls situationship.

‘I got so drunk and peed myself because I couldn’t find the bathroom, but everyone thought it was part of my costume (I was dressed as a scary toddler).’

Honestly? I respect your commitment to the role. Yes, it’s mildly concerning, but we love that you maintained character under pressure (can’t say the same about fluids though).

‘My boyfriend cheated on me with another girl who was dressed in the same costume as me because she wore it better.’

There are no words. Being dumped is bad. Being cheated on? Even worse. But being cheated on with your costume twin? That would be my villain origin story. Here’s to hoping you rise from the ashes this Halloween in something no one can “wear better.”
