Profits at the largest US airline, American Airlines, fell 95% in the third quarter to $12 million (10.34 million euros), the company announced on Thursday, October 23.
In the first nine months of 2025, the company had an operating result of 1,015 million dollars (870 million eruos), compared to 1,480 million dollars (1,280 million euros) in the previous year.
Revenues increased slightly by 0.2% to $40.634 million.
“The American Airlines team is delivering on our commitments,” American Airlines CEO Robert Isom said in a statement today.
American Airlines is confident that continued investments in its network, customer experience and loyalty program “will position it favorably to drive revenue growth and shareholder value in 2026 and beyond.”
After the announcement of the results, American Airlines shares rose more than 4% before the opening of the stock market on Wall Street, as it announced smaller-than-expected losses for the third quarter and prospects for the rest of the year that exceed analysts’ forecasts.
