An important Addams family character was recast in Wednesday season two as a Star Wars actor. If you noticed, you can totally brag to everyone that you have psychic powers like Wednesday does.
In season one, the Addams family’s creepy, zombie-like butler Lurch was portrayed by an actor called George Burcea.

George Burcea did tease on his Instagram in June 2021 that he would return for Wednesday season two. However, this didn’t end up happening. In April 2024, he wrote on his Instagram story that he wouldn’t be reprising his role in season two. He explained: “For personal and managerial reasons, I have decided to no longer be part of the Wednesday season two project.”

Lurch was recast with an actor who plays a super famous character in Star Wars.
Joonas Suotamo is a former basketball player, who has played Chewbacca in the most recent four Star Wars movies. He also played a different Wookie called Master Kelnacca in four episodes of The Acolyte. You can be forgiven for not recognising him in Wednesday season two, since you’re used to seeing him in a big furry costume.

Very tall actors often play Lurch in the Addams family universe, and Joonas Suotamo is 6 foot 11.

In other Addams family media, such as the 1960s The Addams Family TV show, Lurch was super close to Wednesday, and was essentially her only friend. Does this mean we’ll be seeing a lot more of Lurch in Wednesday season two? (We hope so).
