Andy Reid Nearly Struck by Bullet While Inside His Office: Report

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was working in his office when a stray bullet reportedly came through the wall.

The incident occurred in May 2024 while Reid was in his second-story office at the team’s practice facility, the Kansas City Star reported. The coach, 67, was alone in his office when a bullet was fired from outside the building and broke through the glass window before lodging itself into the wall of his office.

The investigation is still underway and no arrests or charges have been made in the case.

“There is no indication this was a targeted incident at any person or organization,” Kansas City Police Department spokesperson Capt. Jacob Becchina told the outlet.

The training facility was hit by two other bullets at the time. One struck the third floor and another hit an outdoor air conditioning unit, the Kansas City Star reported.

While there is no indication that this was a targeted attack, Becchina added, “Because the building was occupied at the time of the bullet coming through the window, the case is being investigated as an aggravated assault.”

Following the terrifying incident, the Kansas City Chiefs added further safety measures, including surrounding Reid’s office with bulletproof glass.

“The gunfire occurred shortly after midnight on the morning of May 4, 2024, according to a sparse incident report provided by the Kansas City Police Department and obtained by The Star through the Missouri Sunshine Law,” the outlet reported. “. “The officers who arrived at the scene in the early morning hours of May 4 spoke with overnight security, who informed them someone ‘heard a noise and observed what appeared to be a bullet hole in a window.'”

The team’s practice facility is directly adjacent to where the Super Bowl-winning team plays on Sundays.
