Hollyoaks fans have been left in shock, and rightfully so. After a shocking three deaths in the show’s 30 anniversary week, another major character is fighting for life.
And when I say major character, I mean the most major of all – Tony Hutchinson, who Nick Pickard has played since day one of Hollyoaks.
Tony hasn’t made himself very popular of late, let’s be fair. Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson) discovered that Tony had slept with Nancy (Jessica Fox) some years ago, leading to the birth of Morgan.
And not only this, but the sperm shooting supremo has also managed to impregnant Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) and Marie Fielding (Rita Simons).
Well, kind of – Marie has been faking the whole thing, wearing a Sienna Blake style false baby bump. After being exposed, she did the only natural thing – move to Brookside Close because, why not?

And tragedy has struck for Mercedes, as she lost her baby in the devastating aftermath of the plane crash.
Tony had left her suffering under debris as he raced to save Marie in a haunting choice.
It was left to Diane (Alexandra Fletcher) to take action and rescue her in a similar way that Mercedes had pulled her to safety.
But she firmly blames Tony for her devastating loss, and she and Diane have realised that the one they should hate over each other – Tony.
Meanwhile, Darren hates his former best pal Tony more than most and he even insisted on getting Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas) to try and assassinate him.

But Warren was disturbed by the crashing plane and then did the only natural thing – went to Brookside Close.
Hmmm, there’s a theme here.
With Mercedes and Diane both gunning for trouble, Darren confronted Tony with a gun, telling him that he has destroyed his life.
As Tony begged for his life, we will never know if Darren was going to pull the trigger – as a gunshot rang out BEHIND Tony.
As he slumped to the ground, we are left wondering two things. Who shot Tony and will he survive?
