‘Appollis might not start for Orlando Pirates’ – Ex-Chiefs winger

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye feels Orlando Pirates have made a good decision by signing Oswin Appollis.

The 23-year-old forward was linked to rivals Kaizer Chiefs; however, it came as a surprise when the Bafana Bafana star joined the Buccaneers from Polokwane City.

Khanye said that although Appollis was a great signing for Pirates, he was not a guaranteed starter given the talent in the team.

“A very good signing for Orlando Pirates,” he told iDiski Times.

“Well done to the guy for restoring himself after being released by SuperSport’s development side. By restoring, I mean the guy started afresh again, was psychologically strong, and even relocated from Cape Town to Polokwane. “That can’t be easy, and without your parents, without your family to start afresh,” Khanye added.

Appollis is Pirates best signing so far

“The guy has done well for himself and even got into the Bafana Bafana squad, scoring crucial goals for Bafana in World Cup qualifying games and being a regular in Hugo Broos’ Bafana-Bafana team.

“So well done, I need to be honest, but when I say good signing, I’m not saying he is going to start at Orlando Pirates,” Khanye concluded.

Appollis is part of the Orlando Pirates team currently in Spain for pre-season training. He is expected to get a run when the Buccaneers play several friendly matches in the coming days.
