College football stars Nico Gramatica and Chase Leon had gay Twitter (and the hetero one) in a chokehold this week after they seemingly embraced during an American football game.
Twitter has a habit of inventing stories and running with them, hence why everyone was convinced that Millie Bobby Brown was homophobic for a solid couple of years. This go around, it was Nico Gramatica and Chase Leon’s turn, and while they are yet to publicly comment on the thirst storm, we’ve already entered the AI trash era of the viral story – so here’s what we actually know.
Okay, so what actually happened with Nico Gramatica and Chase Leon?

When the South Florida Bulls and the Florida Gators faced off against one another during a college football game last weekend, kicker Nico Gramatica secured the win for the Bulls by way of a 20-yard field goal. He celebrated with his teammates and coaches, but it was his somewhat intimate moment with punter Chase Leon that had Twitter losing its mind.
In a viral post that has since racked up 7.5 million views, Chase literally had Nico in his arms as they celebrated. Nico’s hand was on his teammate’s face, and before you knew it, a whole new flurry of fanfiction ideas was born.
“Just a couple of dudes beating Florida. Beautiful. Keep your kickers close,” the original post was captioned.
Soon enough, there were comparisons to the epic tale of Achilles and Patroclus, with a BookTok twist, references to Brokeback Mountain, and a video of them making out that was saved 10k times.
“So they DO wear helmets to stop them from kissing,” one person said.
“This is so intimate… I feel like we weren’t supposed to witness this moment,” another wrote, as a third added, “37 is telling 7 with his eyes that he’s about to d**k him down within an inch of his life later.”
So if they didn’t kiss, why is there a video of them making out?

I rarely fall for AI garbage on my social feeds, but in this case, I was one of thousands who fell for a video of Nico Gramatica and Chase Leon making out after the win.
“I love gay sports,” the post, which has been viewed 6.3 million times, read.
So no, Chase and Nico were not making out after the victory, unfortunately. That being said, OutSports was unsure of their sexualities, so never say never.
