Aston Villa are on the verge of signing Jadon Sancho on loan from Manchester United on transfer deadline day.
And the Villans are also eyeing up a move for a wantaway Liverpool star as Unai Emery looks to turnaround his side’s awful form.
Villa have begun the new season dreadfully, taking just one point from their opening three games and failing to score a single goal.
They are set to sign former United defender Victor Lindelof on a free but Sunday night’s 3-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace has prompted Emery to dive into the transfer market to find attacking reinforcements.
A wide player is what they’re after, having not taken up the chance to sign Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio who were on loan last season, while Leon Bailey has left for Roma.

It has now been reported that Villa have agreed a loan deal with the Red Devils for Sancho, who has no future at Old Trafford, and will pay 80 per cent of his £300,000-a-week wages.
The England international is into the last year of his contract but United have the option to extend it by another 12 months and may well do so in order to extract a fee for the player who cost £73million back in 2021.

Much was expected of Sancho when he joined from Borussia Dortmund but he never got going in Manchester and his career there effectively ended after a public fallout with then-manager Erik ten Hag.
He has since spent time on loan at Dortmund and Chelsea and he looked set to move to Stamford Bridge permanently at the start of the summer butthe Blues ended up paying United £5m to cancel the transfer.
Sancho’s move from United to Villa may well help facilitate Emi Martinez’s transfer in the opposite direction, with Ruben Amorim keen to sign the World Cup winning goalkeeper.

But the Villans may not be done yet, as The Times report that they are also monitoring the situation of Harvey Elliott who has been tipped to leave Anfield all summer.
The young attacking midfielder is highly-rated and has risen in prominence after his starring role as England won the U21 Euros earlier in the summer.
However, he has struggled for game time for his club due to their abundance of attacking talent which is likely to increase if Alexander Isak completes his record £130m move from Newcastle United on deadline day.
