“revealed”OpenAI“A set of statistics related to the use of”Shot at BayIn sensitive conversations, such as suicide and depression, she indicated that there are more than a million users who have developed a pathological attachment to the tool, according to the “Digital Trends” report.
This disclosure comes as part of the company’s attempts to improve the response of its models in private and sensitive conversations that include a direct reference to psychological problems.
Open AI explained that 0.15% of weekly active users have developed a pathological attachment to the model, with the same symptoms appearing on 0.3% of total users, but they have not yet formed this attachment.
The company’s estimates also indicate that the conversations of 0.15% of the platform’s users include direct and clear references to suicide and related plans, with 0.05% of the total users having the idea of suicide.
Although these percentages seem very small, comparing them to the active GBT Chat customer base, which reached 800 million weekly active users, makes them reach millions of users.
This means that the number of users who have formed a pathological emotional attachment to the model reaches 1.2 million users, with the possibility of the same symptoms appearing on 2.4 million users.
The company confirms that the probability of unwanted answers appearing, which contribute to forming this attachment, is reduced by up to 80%, which reduces the abnormal psychological symptoms that appear from using the model.
OpenAI’s attempts to reduce the psychological risks of the GBT chat model come after it was accused of several suicides of both teens and troubled adults.
It is noteworthy that the use of “GBT Chat” in search of psychological support has become widespread among many users, whether they are teenagers or adults.
