Aubrey Plaza stole private White House notes on Parks and Rec, and she’s exposed what they said

If you need more evidence that Aubrey Plaza was born to play the role of April Ludgate on Parks and Recreation, you need only read about the time she stole Joe Biden’s private notes while visiting the White House.

Aubrey Plaza and Amy Poehler have been friends for decades, having first worked together on Parks and Rec between 2009 and 2015. We collectively fell in love with the comedic duo over the course of seven seasons and 126 episodes, so it made sense that Aubrey’s first interview after her husband’s death was on Amy’s Good Hang podcast.

“Right in this very, very present moment, I feel happy to be with you,” Aubrey said, comparing the grief she felt to The Gorge starring Miles Teller and Anya Taylor Joy. “Overall, I’m here and I’m functioning. I feel really grateful to be moving through the world. I think I’m OK, but it’s like a daily struggle, obviously.”

Elsewhere in the interview, and on a slightly happier note, Amy and Aubrey recalled some of their fondest moments from the hit sitcom – including the time Aubrey *technically* stole government secrets.

Okay, so what did Aubrey Plaza steal from the White House?

Anyone familiar with Parks and Recreation will know that, among a pretty stacked main cast, the show featured cameos from notable figures such as John McCain, Michelle Obama, and Joe Biden.

Aubrey said she would “never forget” the cast trip to the White House under Barack Obama’s presidency, not because of meeting the people running America, but as Amy put it, because “Aubrey stole something from his [Biden’s] desk.”

Revealing what the White House notes said, Aubrey recalled: “I saw a little vice president-monogrammed notebook piece of paper that said like, ‘Aubrey Plaza,’ and then three facts about me, like, ‘Wilmington, Delaware, Ursuline Academy, we met,’ blah blah blah. Cause that’s what the politicians all do. They get their [notes] and then you’re like, ‘Oh my god, how did he remember?’ And I swiped it.”

Aubrey was told off by Parks and Rec creator Mike Schur as a result, adding: “And I was like, ‘Oh, shut up, Mike.’ And he was like, ‘We’re literally in the White House.’ And I was like, ‘We are?’”

Aubrey felt there should have been an “alarm system” in there, comparing the White House to a “house of cards” and dubbing it “janky as f*ck.”

“It’s like SNL,” Amy added. “You go in there and you’re like, ‘This is the White House? This place sucks.’”
