AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF)- After news of the Senior Citizens Council of Greater Augusta having to close its doors, the agency is selling everything in its building in downtown Augusta.
The agency needs $500,000 to keep the doors open or they will have to close at the end of this month.
They hope to sell everything from furniture, to supplies, and more.
The goal is to find a way to salvage two popular programs, the Foster Grandparents program and the Senior Companion project.
Newschannel 6 asked the agency’s director, Kathleen Ernce, what would happen if they sold off all the furnishings and then found a way to keep the programs going.
“Somebody would donate it to us again or we could find a, as shy as I am, I will go and talk with someone about, you know, donating some of your office equipment that you’re not using.”
She also said, “It’s never too late. We could always come back and find another office that we could afford, and something that, a product that we could sell to someone else.”
The sale is from 10am-4pm today and Thursday at the Senior Citizens Council on Ellis Street.
