AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – The Augusta Training Shop Inc. wants to send victims of the deadly Texas floods some love from the Garden City.
The non-profit employs adults with various disabilities. The shop mainly repairs and restores furniture, but during the holidays they make homemade crafts to raise funds.
Following Hurricane Helene the shop made over 1000 hearts for linemen and first responders that came to help.
The executive director, Audrey Murell, told NewsChannel 6 that the devastating floods broke her heart she wanted to send them some love in “handmade” form.
Audrey is inviting any and everyone in the community to the Augusta Training Shop at 9:30 am, Wednesday morning (July 9th), to make “Hearts for Texas”.
It’s located at 1704 Jenkins Street in downtown Augusta.
She says that no skills are needed, just show up and you’ll be put to work. If you’re not able to attend, feel free to donate to the organization.
