Kamaru Usman breaks down in tears after picking up first win in nearly four years vs Buckley at UFC Atlanta

KAMARU USMAN was moved to tears after winning his do-or-die octagon return.

The former welterweight and pound-for-pound king returned to the cage for the first time in 20 months early this morning in the main event of UFC Atlanta against Jaoquin Buckley.

There were serious concerns that Usman’s time at the top was a thing of the past following three straight losses to Leon Edwards and Khamzat Chimaev.

But the 38-year-old rolled back the years with a suffocating display across five rounds to earn a unanimous decision victory courtesy of 49–46, 49–46, 48–47 scorecards.

An emotional Usman teared up in his post-fight interview as he said: “It’s been a while. I needed to get that monkey off my back.

“I know I’m still able to do this at the highest level.

“Sometimes when you’re going up against a young, hungry guy like that, very talented, very aggressive, you’ve got to pull out the skills and use your experience.

“And that’s what I did tonight.”

Usman insists victory over the surging Buckley has shown his detractors he’s still very much at the top of his game.

He said: “I know it’s a running joke, everybody wants to get on the internet and talk s***, ‘Oh, his knees, his knees.’

“Well, shut the f*** up, I can still do what I do.

“I could do that to anybody [in the welterweight division], any one of them.

“But like I said, I needed to get that monkey off my back.

“Early on in my career as I was rolling, once I had that monkey off my back and I knew I was rolling, I was able to open up.

“And you guys saw those spectacular knockouts. I still got them in there.”

Following his dominant return to the win column, Usman has set his sights on becoming a two-time king of the welterweights.

He roared: “I have been, and always will be, the f**king boogeyman.”

But the 35-year-old is one of many who could leave if Wednesday fail to pay his late wages.

Wrexham – co-owned by Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney – are monitoring developments and can afford to pay a top salary.

The Red Dragons are also interested in former Scotland midfielder Stuart Armstrong, 33, who is a free agent after a short spell at Wednesday.

Wales goalkeeper Danny Ward could also make a move to the Racecourse following his release by Leicester.

The 44-cap star, 31, was a schoolkid at Wrexham until joining Liverpool in 2012.

Wednesday owner Dejphon Chanisiri wants his manager Danny Rohl to return to work now.

The pair have been clashing for months and supremo Chansiri has ordered Rohl to cut short his summer break.

Rohl has been openly chasing jobs and his staff are mainly out of contract soon.

Tanganga has a fixed fee at a bargain price of around £1.2million — making him an attractive option.

As many as FIVE Premier League sides including Crystal Palace are believed to be interested in the Hackney-born 26-year-old.

But the domestic pack have been told Tanganga’s preference is a switch to Germany or France.

Tanganga, 26, joined Millwall 12 months ago after being released by Spurs.

The former England youth international had played 50 times for his boyhood club before falling out of favour.

Following an unsuccessful loan at Augsburg, Tanganga moved to Millwall on an initial six-month deal.

Having impressed at The Den, the defender made the switch permanent.

Tanganga made 40 Championship appearances last season as the Lions came eighth.

HUDDERSFIELD want to bring Murray Wallace back to the club but are fighting with Blackpool.

The defender has left Millwall and is in talks with both sides.

NORWICH are helping keeper Angus Gunn in his recovery from an ankle injury — despite his exit from the club.

Gunn damaged ligaments playing for Scotland and is being treated at Carrow Road as he tries to find a new home.

WREXHAM centre-half Will Boyle hopes to join Gillingham because he will struggle for game time in the Championship.

WIGAN defender K’Marni Miller could be on his way to Stockport. County are lining up a surprise move for the 19-year-old, though Norwich have also shown interest.

BRIGHTON striker Joe Belmont, 18, is wanted on loan by Accrington. The Welshman was at Everton as a kid and could return to the North West.

Meanwhile, Stanley have lost 39 of their academy kids after shutting down that side of the club for financial reasons.

BLACKPOOL are trying to sign winger Warren Davis from Drogheda  at the second attempt.

The Republic of Ireland U-21 wideman was due to join the Seasiders as a kid and now they are watching him again.

Forgotten Love Island stars who returned to their day jobs after leaving the villa from a roofer to estate agent

FOR many hopefuls stepping into the Love Island villa, the ultimate prize isn’t just romance, but a golden ticket to lasting fame and fortune.

However, life after Majorca often proves far different – with influencer freebies and big-money brand deals quickly fading for most contestants.

Many forgotten Love Island stars have returned to their day jobs[/caption]

As a result, fans are beginning to see former Islanders return to their pre-villa careers.

For many, the stability of a regular job outweighs the fleeting glitz and glamour of reality telly.

Here, The Sun takes a look at those who’ve chosen a normal job over the pursuit of fame.

Fans of the hit ITV2 dating show saw Billy Brown enter the TV villa back in 2022.

The hunk was one of the bombshells to arrive during Love Island‘s infamous Casar Amor week.

Unfortunately for Billy his time was short-lived and he was dumped from the villa two weeks after his arrival.

Two years on, Billy has now revealed he’s back working his old job as a roofer.

Now 24, he took to social media to share an update with fans on a construction site as he wrote “pushing on”.

He continued on camera: “Another day, doing the house.

“Have a look, pushing on now, the floor joints are going in….that’s how it’s looking from above.

“Next stage is the floor and then the top steels.”

The hunk is also on top of his fitness and regularly posts snaps of him playing football to his 117,000 followers on Instagram.

Hugo Hammond, 28, first shot to prominence when he competed in the seventh series of Love Island.

He appeared on the long-running dating show in 2021 where he was dumped from the villa after 38 days on the show.

But three years following his television stint, the star made a huge personal announcement.

The former reality contestant announced that he is joining property development company Pearcroft Developments.

His new firm specialises in building environmentally friendly luxury homes that provide sustainable living.

Hugo took to social media to announce his new personal news and career move.

He was beaming as he posed in a sleek grey kitchen, dressed in a navy polo top with complementary trousers.

The star wrote: “There we land. After a whirlwind few years consisting of teaching, TV and travel.

“I’m Excited to announce that i will be joining the @pearcroft developments investment team, where i will be continuing to build my network and driving sustainable development.

Hugo added: “If you want to know more about #greeninvesting and #sustainableliving, drop me a message.”

Not long after the show, Munveer returned to his work in recruitment[/caption]

His failure to find love in the villa last summer proved to be a blessing in disguise.

In a series that was dominated by Joey Essex‘s surprise arrival, Munveer’s screen time was limited – culminating in a dumping on day 10.

Not long after the show, Munveer returned to his work in recruitment, specifically the tech sector, which he now has a decade of experience in.

But having had a taste of the Love Island life, he’s craving more time in the public eye.

“I’ve had a taste for it now and I feel like where I had it just taken away from me ever so quickly,” he says. “I feel like I’ve got so much more to offer. I loved it. So if there’s more opportunities out there, like your Made In Chelsea, The Traitors or wherever it is, I’m definitely up for it.”

He failed to find love on the show, after coupling up with Samira Mighty, Ellie Brown and Alexandra Cane.

Before the ITV2 show he was an A&E doctor and after Love Island he continued to work at Lewisham Hospital.

The star worked on the frontline during the Covid pandemic between 2020 and 2021.

Since his stint on the programme, Alex has done plenty of work for mental health charities, after his brother Llyr committed suicide when he was 19.

Alex is also the UK Youth Mental Health Ambassador within the Department for Education.

He’s also appeared on TV shows such as Good Morning Britain and Lorraine to talk about the important topics.

The beauty only lasted a day in the villa and failed to win of the heart of Hugo Hammond.

Before the villa, Georgia worked as a marketing executive at supermarket Lidl – and she returned shortly after.

She currently works as a marketing manager at M&S.

Anna appeared in Love Island 2019 alongside the likes of Maura Higgins, Molly Mae Hague and Lucie Donlan.

She originally coupled up with Sherif Lanre, but later found a connection with Jordan Hames.

However she was dumped days before the final.

Anna has a huge following on social media and loves to share sizzling snaps on her Instagram.

But during the pandemic, she returned to the pharmacy as a pharmacist.

Anna confessed: “First day back working as a Pharmacist since leaving Love Island. It’s been almost a whole year! Wow can’t believe how fast it’s gone.

“Wasn’t really planning on registering yet but with everything that’s going on it felt wrong not to.

“We can all fight this together. Stay safe. Stay home. Save lives.”

She coupled up with Rykard Jenkins and then Terry Walsh – who moved on very quickly from her when she was dumped from the show.

Before the programme Malin worked as a elderly and palliative carer – and just like Alex and Anna – she returned to her old job during the years of the pandemic.

She confessed: “I can’t sit at home on my own anymore knowing I have training within the sector.”

Moment Prince Harry practices his German as he shares video message to mark country’s first Veteran’s Day

PRINCE Harry practised his German as he shared a video message to mark the country’s first ever Veteran’s Day.

The Duke of Sussex said it was a “profound privilege” to deliver the message on the “sacred day”.

Harry started his speech in German, greeting members of the country with their native tongue by saying “Guten Tag Deutschland!”

The Duke referenced joining over 2500 people including veterans and injured service members when he was last in Germany for the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf back in 2023.

Harry said: “My last visit to your remarkable country was to Düsseldorf two years ago for the Invictus Games, and it remains etched in my memory.

“The warmth, the enthusiasm, and the unwavering support shown by the German people for our global community of wounded service personnel was truly humbling. You certainly delivered on your promise to create a home for respect.

“That spirit of camaraderie, forged on the sports field, mirrors the unbreakable bond that connects veterans of all nations. We understand each other, regardless of flag or uniform, bound by shared experiences and an enduring commitment to service.

“Veterans are more than warriors – they are leaders. Living testaments to resilience and moral courage, they understand that loyalty must never lie with power alone, but with the people. With truth.”

During the video message, Harry was seen wearing numerous ceremonial medals that he was awarded in the past.

This included the Afghan Campaign medal, Golden Jubilee medal, Diamond Jubilee medal and Platinum Jubilee medal.

However, non-working members of the royal family are barred from wearing military uniforms to official state occasions and Harry was not allowed to wear the military uniform to the Queen’s procession following her death.

After Harry stepped away from his Royal Family duties he was also stripped of his honorary military roles.

But the Duke still wore his medals on his suit at the coffin procession for the late Queen.

Speaking about service, Harry continued in his speech: “As someone who has worn the uniform and stood shoulder to shoulder with brothers-and sisters-in-arms from across the world – including many of you – I know that the weight of service is not carried lightly.

“We serve not to glorify war, but to protect peace. Not to follow a single voice, but to uphold a collective oat – to country, to people, and to the principles that bind us together as free nations.

“Germany has shown the world how memory, accountability, and unity can be turned into strength.”

Harry added how during “turbulent times”,, Germany’s role in safeguarding peace and stability in Europe “has never been more critical”.

He continued: “To the brave men and women of the Bundeswehr – a heartfelt thank you for your steadfast service to your country, to your people and to one another.

“Today is also a celebration of you, the values you stand for, the oath you took and the great country you stand to protect.

“Today, let us renew our commitment—together—to protect the freedoms that define who we are, to serve each other for peace, for dignity and for the enduring promise of democracy.

“Vielen dank und einen schonen tag.”

It comes just 24 hours after the Royals all came out in formal attire for Trooping the Colour.

Wills wore the Full Ceremonial Guard Order of the Welsh Guards yesterday during the parade.

Prince William saluted while on horseback, alongside Princess Anne and the Duke of Edinburgh.

Kate, meanwhile, looked elegant in an aquamarine Catherine Walker coatdress with ivory lapels and cuffs.

Both King Charles and Prince William were spotted wearing a black armband as they made their way down The Mall.

Those at the parade also held a minute’s silence following the devastating crash.

Prince Harry's Army career

Prince Harry entered RMAS in May 2005 to begin 44 weeks of Officer Cadet training, this was after passing his Regular Commissions Board (RCB), the qualification necessary to train at Sandhurst, in September 2004.

In January 2006, Clarence House announced he was to join the Blues and Royals, after which he was commissioned as an Army officer on 12 April that year.

The Duke of Sussex served in the Army for ten years, undertaking two tours of Afghanistan.

The father of two rose to the rank of Captain at the peak of his military career which began in 2004.

During his time serving, he qualified as an Apache Aircraft Commander.

In his memoir Spare he revealed he flew six missions during his second tour of duty which resulted in “the taking of human lives” of which he was neither proud nor ashamed.

His decision to leave the Army was confirmed in March 2015.

Prince Harry ended his military career at the rank of captain in June 2015, following a secondment to the Australian military.

General Sir Nicholas Carter, the then-Chief of the General Staff, said that Prince Harry had “achieved much in his 10 years as a soldier”.

Danniella, 51, was supported by her boyfriend, bare knuckle fighter, Charlie Symonds after the op.

The surgery saw doctors removing cartilage from her rib to help perform a bone graft across the bridge of her nose.

She underwent the procedure on Thursday and told her fans: “Big day for me heading down for a very long surgery right now to rebuild my face.

“Then I can get back to work.”

A source said: “Danniella is recovering after the surgery and is being supported by Charlie.

“She is so grateful for the support from her fan base.”

Danniella got hooked on drugs aged 14 after shooting to fame as Sam Mitchell in the BBC One soap.

She said she wasted £250,000 on cocaine, was so badly addicted to the drug that she took five grams a day while pregnant with her son Kai.

Danniella abused the drug so badly that her septum – the cartilage that separates the two nostrils – fell out.

In 2023, Danniella opened up about her stint on Celebrity Big Brother in 2017 and said she was struggling with her addiction then.

She said: “When I went on Big Brother my kids were thinking ‘oh my God how’s she going to be?’

“Because I went on there doing 11 grams of gear [cocaine] a day.”

She got clean before relapsing again a year later and said: “I’m an addict and the wheels fell off. I was dabbing cocaine in my mouth and rubbing it around my gums to numb the pain.

“People think I was hoovering cocaine up my nose again but I wasn’t. I was wiping it around my gums.”

In 2021, she faced another relapse but got clean again.

Since then Danniella has spent over £500,000 rebuilding her face and in 2023 travelled to Turkey for her fifth facial reconstruction surgery, undergoing a surgical thread lift.

The procedure involved them putting 1,200 threads into her face, and then liposuction to remove fat from her body and put it into her cheeks and lips to make her face more symmetrical.

Americans mock underwhelming Flag Day parade with soldiers ‘marching out of step’

WASHINGTON, DC - JUNE 14: U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump stand together at the end of the U.S Army parade on June 14, 2025 in Washington, DC. The U.S. Army is marking its 250th birthday with the military parade including roughly 6,600 troops, 150 vehicles, and over 50 aircraft. The parade, which coincides with President Donald Trump's 79th birthday, is designed to tell the history of the Army. (Photo by Andrew Harnik/Getty Images)

Donald Trump’s military parade yesterday was supposed to show the strength and power of the States, but not everyone was impressed with some even branding it ‘humiliating’ and ‘lacklustre’.

The pageant, which marked the 250th anniversary of the US army, and also took place on the President’s 79th birthday, received a lukewarm reaction after soldiers were shown marching out of lockstep in front of ‘tiny’ crowds.

Viewers posted photos of sparse crowds on social media, and even seemingly disinterested soldiers as they processed through Washington.

Some even mocked the parade as a knock-off version of awesome displays put on in autocracies such as North Korea.

Veteran Christopher David gave a damning verdict on the quality of the procession.

He posted on X: ‘I’ve marched in more military parades than I even care to remember. Probably watched dozens more as a spectator. And this is easily the worst and sloppiest marching I’ve ever witnessed at a formal military parade. It feels like a big “f*** you” to Trump from the soldiers.’

Tens of thousands of protesters rallied nationwide Saturday against Donald Trump ahead of a huge military parade on the US president's 79th birthday -- as the killing of a Democratic lawmaker underscored the deep divisions in American politics. "No Kings" demonstrators took to the streets in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston, Atlanta and hundreds of other cities across the United States to condemn what they call Trump's dictatorial overreach. WASHINGTON, DC - JUNE 14: Members of the U.S. Army participate in the 250th birthday parade on June 14, 2025 in Washington, DC. More than 6,600 soldiers were joined by tanks and robot dogs on the march down Constitution Avenue as well as military aircraft in what was the first event of its kind in the US since 1991.

Attendance appeared to fall far short of early predictions that as many as 200,000 people would attend, and there were large gaps between viewers near the Washington Monument.

Even Trump himself was shown on a clip appearing to look downcast and bored as he watched the parade alongside his wife Melania.

But the lack of crowds could be partly down to the weather, with humid conditions and the threat of thunderstorms dampening turnout.

Not everyone was underwhelmed: Larry Stallard, a retired American Airlines pilot, said he travelled from Kansas City for the weekend ‘to see the military and see Trump.’

Some felt that Trump himself looked unimpressed by the show

The Republican voter said it was ‘hard to believe’ people were upset about the cost of the event when ‘they blow that in 10 seconds on things that we don’t even need’.

The parade had been criticised for costing up to 45 million dollars (£33 million), as well as the possibility that the heavy tanks could tear up city streets.

About six in 10 Americans said it was ‘not a good use’ of government money, according to a poll from the Associated Press-NORC Centre for Public Affairs Research.

The low turnout at the display was contrasted with huge crowds at ‘No Kings’ protests held around the country on Saturday, planned to coincide with the military parade.

These were protests against what they see as the concentration of power in one leader’s hands, claiming that Trump has overstepped the limits of presidential authority.

Large crowds were seen in major cities including Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia and Houston.
