Viktor Gyokeres transfer news – next club odds: Man Utd odds slashed after Sporting told he WON’T return, Arsenal in mix
MANCHESTER UNITED’S odds of signing Viktor Gyokeres have been slashed to well ODDS-ON.
The Swedish striker is hot property after another dazzling season in front of goal for Sporting.
Though it emerged today that he’s told the Portuguese side he WON’T play for them again and the reports claim he could even go on STRIKE after broken transfer promises.
Gyokeres is said to have come to a “gentleman’s agreement” with Sporting chiefs last September, with club bigwigs reportedly claiming that he could leave this summer for a fee in the region of £60million, including bonuses.
According to Portuguese paper Record, the Swede has been left frustrated by Sporting’s desire to now charge around £70m.
A move to Old Trafford would see the forward reunite with former Sporting boss Ruben Amorim.
Gyokeres, 26, averaged MORE than a goal per game across all competitions this season, notching a huge 54 goals in 52 games.

Odds from bet365
- Man Utd 4/11/
- Juventus 5/1
- Arsenal 7/1
- Liverpool 8/1

- Napoli 12/1

The latest terrific season took his Sporting tally to 97 goals in 102 games in the green and white hoops, since his £24million move from Coventry in the summer of 2023.
Perhaps most notably is his six goals in eight games in the Champions League, plus five scored in nine Europa League appearances, showing he can do it on the biggest stage.
But it could be he gives up on European football next season to line up for Amorim once more, and he’s now 4/11 with bet365 to become a United player this summer.
Juventus are the other market movers and are now 5/1 second favourites, ahead of Premier League pair Arsenal (7/1) and Liverpool (8/1), with the former in particular desperate to sign a top class centre forward.
Reports last week suggested Arsenal were set to make a move but those links have since cooled.

My mum saved all my McDonald’s Happy Meal toys – they’re better than today’s, people say I’ve ‘unlocked their childhood’
A WOMAN has amazed people by revealing the staggering amount of McDonald’s Happy Meal toys she collected as a child.
Gemma Leigh said her mum kept each and every one of the ‘free’ items that came with the fast food boxes.

On her @gemmacauson account, she showed her floor completely covered with the tiny toys.
From mini Furbies and Disney figurines, to the iconic Beany Baby animals, her collection was very nostalgic for many viewers who remembered them from their childhood.
Gemma wrote: “My mum saved all my old McDonald’s toys from my childhood – so now my kids get to play with decent McDonald’s toys not cardboard tat.”
Many people were flabbergasted at the sheer volume of toys, and queried how often she had been taken to McDonald’s as a child.
One social media user commented: “damm was every day a McDonald’s dinner day?”
She shared: “I could make approximately 792 of these videos, I have THOUSANDS.
“Just once a week, but my mum always brought me the full collection, and if they had one out of stock, they would save it for me for the next week.”
Many people asked how old she was, as they recognised many of the collectible toys.
One person said: “Are you 30? This was my EXACT collection.”
She replied that she is 31, to which another viewer added: “You are the luckiest girl in the world!!! I remember sooo many of them, I’m 30. The best memories.”
A third person wrote: “Oh… My childhood… *cries*.”
And one commented: “This ladies and Gentlemans, this is a millenial treasure!!!”
Lots of people pointed out that she could make a lot of money if she was to sell her limited-edition toys.
One said: “Possibly worth a fortune now for some collectors.”

McDonald’s Happy Meals – which cost around £3.89 – include toys or books that are typically themed around movies, TV shows, or other popular franchises.
Typically a Happy Meal includes a main item (like a cheeseburger, hamburger, or four Chicken McNuggets), fries or carrot sticks, a drink, and the toy.
Currently Dragon-type Pokémon are included in the boxes.
How to save at McDonald's
You could end up being charged more for a McDonald's meal based solely on the McDonald's restaurant you choose.
Research by The Sun found a Big Mac meal can be up to 30% cheaper at restaurants just two miles apart from each other.
You can pick up a Big Mac and fries for just £2.99 at any time by filling in a feedback survey found on McDonald’s receipts.
The receipt should come with a 12-digit code which you can enter into the Food for Thought website alongside your submitted survey.
You’ll then receive a five-digit code which is your voucher for the £2.99 offer.
There are some deals and offers you can only get if you have the My McDonald’s app, so it’s worth signing up to get money off your meals.
The MyMcDonald’s app can be downloaded on iPhone and Android phones and is quick to set up.
You can also bag freebies and discounts on your birthday if you’re a My McDonald’s app user.
The chain has recently sent out reminders to app users to fill out their birthday details – otherwise they could miss out on birthday treats.

Nepo-baby actress with Hollywood A-list dad walks the red carpet for new TV show – can you guess who she is?
THIS nepo-baby looked right at home as she walked the red carpet for her new TV show.
And it’s no surprise, as the actress has grown up with a very famous Hollywood star dad.

The 23-year-old was snapped in New York at the premiere for the new Prime Video series We Were Liars.
But can you guess who she is? Or who her A-list dad is?
The lady in question is Esther McGregor, the daughter of Scottish actor Ewan McGregor.
Ewan, 54, has had a massive career in Hollywood, starring in blockbusters including Star Wars, Trainspotting and Moulin Rouge.
Esther has now followed in her father’s footsteps and is enjoying her own successful acting career.
On Tuesday evening, she was snapped in a stunning beaded crop top and matching skirt at the premiere of We Were Liars.
Esther stars as Mirren Sinclair in the eight-part series, which is based on the novel of the same name by E. Lockhart.
The story follows Mirren’s 17-year-old sister Cadence, who is trying to piece together her memories of a fateful summer after suffering a head injury.
We Were Liars is due to hit Prime on June 18 and it is Esther’s first big streaming role.
Last year, she starred as Nicole Kidman’s on-screen daughter in the movie Babygirl.
In a recent interview, Esther admitted she has always wanted to be like her dad Ewan and “came out singing”.
Esther’s mum is also Eve Mavrakis, a French production designer, so the arts was definitely in the blood.
She has already starred alongside Ewan in Star Wars spin-off Obi-Wan Kenobi and the drama Bleeding Love, but her most recent roles have been without him by her side.
Speaking to ELLE, Esther recently said: “I definitely came out singing, for sure. But being in close proximity to anything will build its charm – I immediately fell in love with it.
“I want to give the gratitude that I think deserves its place, in terms of being raised in a family in film.
“Being able to be on sets really aided that love and that breath and that heartbeat.”
She added: “As much as I don’t think I would be able to do anything else, who knows?
“It was the way that I was born, the world I was born into. So I feel very thankful that I’m able to do what I do, because I need it.”

Ewan, meanwhile, previously ruled out any suggestion that Esther’s career has only come off the back of his own success.
The Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning actor spoke out after Esther landed her cameo alongside him in the Disney+ miniseries, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Speaking to James Corden on The Late, Late Show in 2022, Ewan said: “I’m sure everybody thinks she got the job because of me, but really she didn’t. She auditioned for the role.
“You don’t really know with your kids until that moment when I was acting with her and it felt really normal and natural.”
Ewan has five children: Clara, 28, Esther, 23, Jamyan, also 23, and Anouk, 13, with his first wife Eve, and Laurie, three, with his current partner Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

Britain’s most popular car brand to bring back ‘favourite’ model with a retro twist
Popular car brand Volkswagen are looking to offer a new practical alternative to SUVs with qualities similar to the iconic microbus.
The German brand is considering launching an electric, compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) to replace the well-loved Touran model, which could be launched as soon as 2027.
MPVs are renowned for their space, practicality and people carrying, making them the ideal family car.
According to Autocar, the new vehicle would be positioned beneath the ‘ID Buzz,’ offering a smaller footprint, a lighter weight, and a more affordable price.
It is these features that have led to the car being likened to a modern-day microbus.
The microbus was first introduced in 1950 and went on to have an iconic history, becoming synonymous with hippie culture.
The design direction of the new model is still under wraps although it is expected to be influenced by the likes of the 2011 Bulli and 2016 Budd-e.
This new take on the classic Microbus type 2 is reportedly aimed at families looking for a “no-nonsense, high-utility electric vehicle with sliding rear doors and strong day-to-day usability.”
It is rumoured that this new model is under internal review, with a production decision yet to be officially made.
Reportedly, Volkswagen recently retrieved various MPV concepts from storage to support these internal discussions and explore how their design could be adapted for a new model.
Autocar added: “This move reflects a broader shift in thinking in Volkswagen’s Wolfsburg headquarters in Germany, where there is renewed recognition that a dedicated family-focused MPV may still have commercial relevance.”
This model would rival popular electric SUV models like the Skoda Elroq, The Volvo EX30 and the Tesla Model Y.
The design direction of the car is also yet to be revealed, although buyers can expect an upright silhouette, short overhangs, a flat floor and a high roof line.
All of these considerations have been made with the aim of making the car as spacious as possible.
Launched in 2003, the Touran model is one of the most successful European models of its type with 2.6 million units sold globally.
However, it could soon be replaced with this new model.
It is reported that if given the green light, the new model could be released as soon as 2027 or 2028.
This has the potential to revive the Touran badge in line with Volkswagen’s plan to provide future EVs with traditional names instead of the ID numbers used today.”

Why you should always wear sunglasses every time you step outside – as eye expert warns of skin cancer risk
AN eye expert has warned why you should wear sunglasses every time you step outside – not doing so could risk serious conditions like cataracts and skin cancer.
With 52 per cent only popping on sunglasses when it’s sunny, eye care expert Ayad Shafiq warns that those who save sunnies for the summer are putting their vision at risk.

The poll of 2,000 adults also found just 36 per cent wear shades when the skies are overcast, with only 24 per cent wearing them throughout the year.
And this is despite UV rays being able to penetrate cloud cover and reflect off surfaces like water, sand and snow.
Ayad Shafiq, the cataract clinical lead from Newmedica, commented on the study commissioned by Specsavers: “Protecting your eyes from UV rays is essential to reduce the long-term risk of serious conditions such as cataracts, macular degeneration, and even skin cancer around the eyelids.
“Wearing UV-blocking sunglasses and wide-brimmed hats can significantly lower this risk.
“However, it’s important to note that individuals with existing cataracts or macular degeneration often require enhanced lighting to see clearly, so their need for light must be balanced carefully with UV protection.
“Consulting an eye care professional can help tailor the right approach for each individual.”
Worryingly, nearly one in five (18 per cent) mistakenly believe darker lenses provide better protection – when in fact, UV defence has nothing to do with the tint of the lens.
As a result, 23 per cent have bought sunglasses under this misconception.
A quarter wrongly believe sunglasses block all types of light damage, while 22 per cent assume they never expire – both of which are false.
In fact, eight per cent admit they rarely wear sunglasses even when it is sunny.
Among these, 32 per cent say it’s simply not a habit they’ve picked up, and 26 per cent find them inconvenient due to wearing prescription glasses.
When it comes to choosing new shades, Brits typically spend less than 30 minutes researching the right pair.
Nearly a quarter (24 per cent) admit they don’t wear them often enough to justify putting much effort into the decision.
Over half (55 per cent) of these want a pair that suits their face shape, and 47 per cent feel more confident when they like how they look in sunglasses.
Whereas it is essential for 31 per cent to match them with their personal style, according to the data conducted via OnePoll.
That said, many Brits are aware of the potential long-term damage UV rays can cause – with retinal damage (41 per cent), photokeratitis (29 per cent) and cataracts (27 per cent) rated most highly.
However, over a third (36 per cent) don’t associate cataracts with UV exposure, believing the condition is purely age-related.
And 32 per cent say they’ve never seen any public health messaging linking the two.
According to the research, nearly three-quarters (74 per cent) admit they don’t know much about cataracts – even though 56 per centare worried about developing them.
Sun safety
Seek shade
The sun’s rays are most intense between 10 a.m. and 4pm (or earlier in summer).
Cover up
Long-sleeved shirts, pants, and skirts can provide significant protection. Wide-brimmed hats help shade the face, neck, ears, and scalp.
Use sunscreen
Apply a generous amount of broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) to all exposed skin.
Other tips
Check the UV Index: The National Weather Service (.gov) provides UV Index forecasts to help you plan your outdoor activities.
Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, especially during sun exposure.
Be mindful of reflection: Reflected sunlight from water, snow, and sand can increase UV exposure.
Emergency lockdown at UK hospital as staff open ‘small package’ containing ‘suspicious substance’
A HOSPITAL was placed on lockdown after staff unearthed a small package containing a ‘suspicious substance’.
Cops swooped in to identify the item at Leeds General Infirmary after being alerted to the package today at around 11.02am.

Fire engines were also spotted at the hospital.
The package has been contained on site and West Yorkshire Police believe there is no wider risk to the public.
A spokesperson for the force said: “At 11.02am today [Wednesday], police received a report of a small package containing a suspicious substance which had been opened by staff at Leeds General Infirmary.
“Specialist officers have been deployed to the location to identify the substance, which has been contained on site.
“There is not believed to be any wider risk at present.”
