Domino’s confirms it’s axed ‘unreal’ pizza from all UK sites after launch just two years ago

DOMINO’S has confirmed it has axed a popular pizza after its launch just two years ago.

The fast food chain has ditched the main to make way for newer items on the menu.

Domino's Ultimate Chicken Mexicana Pizza.

Domino’s’ Ultimate Chicken Mexicana Pizza has been discontinued[/caption]

Customers can no longer buy the Ultimate Chicken Mexicana Pizza, which was first unveiled in 2023.

Eaters could get a small for £10, medium for £12 or large for £14 as part of the chain’s Price Slice deal.

The menu option combined spiced pulled chicken, juicy tomatoes, crunchy onions, spicy jalapenos and green and red peppers, topped with a spiced mayo drizzle.

However, Domino’s has now confirmed it has been dropped from menus.

A spokesperson said: “The incredibly popular Ultimate Chicken Mexicana Pizza has been removed from the national Domino’s menu.

“Despite its popularity, we’re always looking to make room for more deliciousness.

“In this case, it’s to welcome the return of our Double Choc Caramel Cookies as well as another exciting product we’ll be revealing next week.”

News the pizza has been dropped from menus will no doubt leave shoppers distraught.

One recently asked on X: “Hi, have you discontinued The Ultimate Chicken Mexicana pizza?

“Was my favourite and hope it comes back.”

Others who loved the slice will be fuming to hear it’s been discontinued as well, with one branding it “unreal” when it first launched.

Another recently posted on X: “That new Ultimate Chicken Mexicana looks banging.”

Meanwhile another commented: “The new Ultimate Chicken Mexicana is quite good tbf.”

OTHER DISCONTINUED ITEMS

It’s common practice for retailers and chains to discontinue products based on customer demand and sales.

Greggs recently exclusively revealed to The Sun the Chargrill Chicken Oval Bite had been dropped from menus.

But, the bakery chain said it was to make way for the new Roast Chicken Salad Roll, which launched in May.

Meanwhile, Tesco also recently confirmed it had axed its own-brand beef sausages.

It came after Tesco confirmed it axed popular southern fried chicken flavour instant noodles.

The pack costed around 50p, but was dropped and replaced with another chicken flavour shoppers could buy.

Tesco also recently cut its own-brand tomato and basil soup from its chilled range.

The Sun exclusively revealed last month Cadbury’s axed Fry’s Coffee Cream after first launching it in 2023 too.

Why are products axed or recipes changed?

ANALYSIS by chief consumer reporter James Flanders.

Food and drinks makers have been known to tweak their recipes or axe items altogether.

They often say that this is down to the changing tastes of customers.

There are several reasons why this could be done.

For example, government regulation, like the “sugar tax,” forces firms to change their recipes.

Some manufacturers might choose to tweak ingredients to cut costs.

They may opt for a cheaper alternative, especially when costs are rising to keep prices stable.

For example, Tango Cherry disappeared from shelves in 2018.

It has recently returned after six years away but as a sugar-free version.

Fanta removed sweetener from its sugar-free alternative earlier this year.

Suntory tweaked the flavour of its flagship Lucozade Original and Orange energy drinks.

While the amount of sugar in every bottle remains unchanged, the supplier swapped out the sweetener aspartame for sucralose.

German cops break silence on ‘very constructive’ Madeleine McCann search as ‘clothes and bones are sent for analysis’

THE latest searches in connection with the disappearance of Madeleine McCann concluded as planned, German prosecutors have said.

Head prosecutor in Braunschweig, Hans Christian Wolters, said the co-operation between the Portuguese and German authorities during the operation was “very constructive”.

Christian Brueckner is believed to be the lead suspect in the girl’s disappearance[/caption] Map showing three search sites in Portugal during the Maddie Hunt investigation.

It comes after it was revealed that eagle-eyed police did find tiny fragments during the search, which they are speculating could have links to Maddie after prime suspect Christian Brueckner, 38, wild camped at the site.

The samples have now been sent to Germany for testing amid hopes they could finally reveal the forensic link cops are missing on the case.

Watch The Sun’s exclusive documentary on the Maddie case here

Cops are understood to have found clothes and animal bones during the extensive search through an area known as Brueckner’s “rat run”.

Without evidence pinning it to the convicted German rapist, prosecutors risk not being able to get the arrest warrant they need to keep Brueckner behind bars

The claims were made in the Berlin Morning Post.

A source said: “Several objects have apparently been discovered, which are now being examined in more detail by the police in the laboratory.

“As Portuguese media report, clothing debris and bones were found, among other things.

“The investigators have not officially commented on whether the finds could have anything to do with Madeleine’s disappearance but that is clearly their hope.”

The search took place around an area of scrubland which is located close to where the British toddler was staying with her parents back in 2007.

The little girl was aged just three when she vanished and has never been found since despite extensive searches.

German and Portuguese police used JCB-type machines and ground-penetrating radar but found “nothing of consequence”.

It was reported that animal bones and adult clothing were the only things unearthed – but no traces could be linked to Maddie.

This quickly dashed hopes of pinning Brueckner with fresh DNA evidence until the latest developments today.

It comes as The Sun uncovered new Maddie evidence in a bombshell documentary.

The world exclusive doc lifts the lid on gripping new information and reveals why Brueckner is the prime suspect.

Our compelling investigation unveils the horrors found at his abandoned factory lair – and his obsession with small children.

Madeleine McCann: Inside the Secret Evidence is now available to watch online for free on our YouTube page.

The dossier of overwhelming circumstantial evidence includes exclusive images of kids’ swimming costumes, a toddler bike and toys found at his property.

We also reveal how cops found a mask, guns and child kidnap stories where Brueckner describes using kidnap chemical ether to take a mum and tot outside a preschool.

Our documentary on the police files represents the biggest leap forwards in understanding of the case since German police revealed Brueckner as a suspect in 2020.

TIMELINE OF EVENTS

HERE’S a timeline of the case which has gripped the world.

May 3, 2007

Madeleine McCann disappears from her family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, sparking a massive police search and becoming one of the most famous missing persons cases in history.

January 15, 2016

Neighbour reports a possible ‘grave’ at Brueckner’s abandoned factory in East Germany.

Cops find disturbing images on USB sticks and launch a full-scale search.

February 16, 2016

Christian Brueckner is convicted for abusing a girl of five in a park after images found on his laptop.

He was sentenced to 15-months behind bars but was already on the run by then.

May 3, 2017

Around this time, Helge B calls an information hotline after watching a ten-year anniversary special on the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

He reports an alleged confession by Christian Brueckner.

September 27, 2018

On-the-run Christian Brueckner is arrested over outstanding drugs claims in Italy.

He is extradited to Germany the following year.

December 16, 2019

Christian Brueckner was convicted, in Germany, for the 2005 rape of an American woman in Praia da Luz, Portugal, after his DNA was matched to a hair found on her bed.

He was sentenced to seven years behind bars.

June 4, 2020

German prosecutors reveal to the world they have a suspect in custody under investigation for the abduction of Madeleine McCann.

For the first time they claim Madeleine is dead.

German media later name him as Christian B (Christian Brueckner).

June 23, 2023

In his first interview, witness Helge B alleges to German newspaper Bild that Christian Brueckner all-but-confessed the Madeleine abduction to him, by allegedly saying “she didn’t scream” as they talked about the case, at a music festival, in Spain.

February 16, 2024

Brueckner goes on trial accused of none-McCann allegations of rape and sex assault, in Braunschweig, Germany.

Prosecutors hope for a conviction to keep him behind bars permanently and lead to McCann charges.

October 8, 2024

Brueckner was acquitted of all claims.

Prosecutors launch an appeal, however. Decision pending.

September 17, 2025

Date on which Christian Brueckner will be released from custody without action being taken.

Prosecutors require an arrest warrant for a retrial over claims from last year – or over the McCann case.

Czech Republic U21 vs England U21 preview

The European U21 Championship kick-starts this week in Slovakia with defending champions England among the favourites to lift the trophy on June 28th.

Lee Carsley is still at the helm after his brief stint as the senior team’s interim manager, and he’s got a pretty difficult assignment on his hands to repeat the feat.

Liam Delap has not been included in the squad following his move to Chelsea, while Jobe Bellingham may withdraw if he completes a move to Borussia Dortmund.

Though only two members of the 2023 winning squad remain, Carsley does still have a flurry of superstars at his disposal.

Liverpool’s Premier League winners Jarell Quansah and Harvey Elliott are both in the squad, with Manchester City’s James McAtee and Newcastle’s Tino Livramento also included.

England will kick-off their campaign against the Czech Republic on Thursday 12 June. Three days later they will face Slovenia, before their final group-stage match against Germany.

As for Thursday’s opener against the Czechs, it’s a game England are expected to win.

The Young Lions won this exact fixture back in 2023 en route to glory and, despite just one win in their last four, England are odds-on at 6/11.

Though their recent form in friendlies hasn’t been great, their form in competitive fixtures is why they are fancied to go deep into the competition.

England have won 14 of their last 16 competitive games, and finished top of Group F in qualifying – scoring a colossal 41 goals and conceding just six!

As for the Czechs, they actually won this tournament back in 2002 but have failed to escape the group stages in their last four appearances.

Czech Republic U21 vs England U21 preview betting tips and predictions

Goalscorer

Manchester City’s James McAtee and Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott were England’s most potent attackers during qualification, scoring five and seven respectively.

Both are reportedly in the shop window this summer, and both will be looking to make a statement to their own clubs and potential suitors during this competition.

It’s a toss ups between the pair but we’re siding with the better priced Elliott at 13/5 with William Hill.

Win to Nil

England have been pretty impressive at the back, if you’re willing to forgive the last few friendlies.

In competitive matches, they’ve registered 12 clean sheets in the last 16 and only shipped six goals during their 10 qualifiers. The Czech Republic, meanwhile, have blanked in three of their six games against England.
