Missing woman ‘killed by ex-lover who dragged body from their office in wheelie bin before dumping her 96 miles away’

A MISSING woman was killed by her ex-lover who dragged her body from their office block in a wheelie bin, a court heard.

Yajaira Castro Mendez, 46, was reported missing on May 31 after failing to return to her home in Ilford, East London.

Her body was discovered 96 miles away in the Bolderwood area of Hampshire on Saturday.

Yajaira’s ex Juan Francisco Toledo, 51, appeared at the Old Bailey today charged with murder.

The court heard Toledo allegedly killed Yajaira on the evening of May 29 at an office where they were working in central London.

Prosecutor Caroline Carberry KC said: “The defendant was Ms Mendez’s work colleague.

“They were both cleaning staff at an office building on Grays Inn Road and they had been in recent history in a relationship and on the day of her death they were both at work.”

The court was told Toledo allegedly murdered Yajaira after she arrived at the office at 5pm.

Around three-and-a-half hours later, her body was removed from the building in a wheelie bin, it was said.

Toledo allegedly drove to Hampshire with Yajaira in his car then dumped the body.

A post-mortem examination to determine her cause is ongoing.

Venezuelan national Toledo, who was assisted by a Spanish interpreter, was remanded into custody.

A plea hearing was set for September 1 with a provisional trial from April 20, 2026.

The Met yesterday confirmed the body belonged to Yajaira.

Acting Detective Chief Inspector Sean Beasley, who is leading the investigation, said: “This is a very sad development in the investigation and our thoughts are very much with Yajaira’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.

“Officers have been working around the clock and continue to investigate the circumstances.

“There are still crime scenes in place and we’re working closely with Hampshire Police.

“We thank the community for their patience as we carry out our investigation and we continue to appeal to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to please come forward.”

A source said: “Emily’s originally from Aberdare, the same town as Nicole Samuel from last year’s show.

“Her ex-boyfriend is tall dark and handsome so she’ll have plenty of options when she does make it into the villa.

“She’s been unlucky in love since moving down under and is hoping to find Mr Right with a little help from Maya Jama and the British public.”

The glam, well-travelled brunette is fond of a beach day, often stripping down to stylish bikinis to soak up the sun.

Last year she spent time in Ibiza, Mykonos, Mallorca, and the Amalfi Coast.

Emily last posted on social media two weeks ago and told followers she was a “happy girl”, while another post saw her say: “I love my little life”.

We exclusively revealed yesterday that one of the original villa girls has already been dumped from the villa.

A source said: “This girl will be sorely missed as was already proving to be a big character. She was absolutely gutted to leave.

“But the series has twists and turns at every stage and this isn’t the usual dumping viewers might expect after a bombshell arrives.

“Executive producer Mike Spencer-Hayter has promised drama for the tenth anniversary and this format point will not disappoint.”

It came after the first bombshell of the series, American Toni, was introduced last night and immediately stole Ben from Shakira.

However, viewers think the taxi driver isn’t interested after picking up on his body language and saying: “Ben doesn’t even look like he wants to be there. This season is about to be a mess.”

Gianluigi Donnarumma sends message to Man Utd and Man City over PSG transfer

Gianluigi Donnarumma says his ‘priority’ is to stay at PSG despite emerging as a target for Manchester United and Manchester City.

The Manchester rivals have expressed interest in superstar goalkeeper Donnarumma amid his contract stand-off at Paris Saint-Germain.

Donnarumma, considered one of the best shot-stoppers in the world, has entered the final 12 months of his contract in the French capital.

PSG are keen for Donnarumma to stay but the 26-year-old has reportedly been underwhelmed by the club’s proposals so far.

The contract dispute has prompted Manchester United and Manchester City to line up moves for Donnarumma, who helped PSG win the Champions League and Ligue 1 last season.

Current United No. 1 Andre Onana has largely underwhelmed since his £47m move from Inter Milan in 2023 and Ruben Amorim is reportedly open to signing a replacement this summer.

Manchester City are also interested in Donnarumma as they look for a long-term replacement for club legend Ederson, who turns 32 before the start of next season.

Donnarumma was asked about his future and the transfer speculation following Italy’s World Cup qualifier against Moldova on Monday night and confirmed his ‘priority’ was to extend his spell in Paris.

‘My priority is to stay at PSG and sign a new deal,’ he said. ‘I don’t think there will be any problems in the negotiations.’

Speaking after PSG’s Champions League final win, Donnarumma confirmed he wanted to stay but said he was ‘open to anything’ regarding the summer window.

‘I feel good in Paris,’ the Italian said. ‘Then it’s up to the club to decide whether to renew my contract or not.

‘I’m ready for anything, but my first choice is Paris. I’ve found my balance, the fans and the team care about me, and I hope to stay here for many years.

‘As I’ve already said, I’m not closing the door to anything, I’m enjoying the moment.

‘Maybe, in a few years, things could change. Italy is definitely my home, and I do miss it a bit. Maybe one day I’ll come back, but for now I’m taking things day by day.

‘I feel good, and everyone at PSG has confidence in me. I’m happy, right now, I’m just focused on what I’m doing and enjoying everything in Paris.’

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has called for Onana to be replaced but believes his former club may prioritise other areas.

Asked whether Onana should be replaced in the summer, Scholes said on TNT Sports: ‘Yeah, I think it’s something they need to think about.

‘But they need to look at the budget as well. Can you get away with not spending that money on a goalkeeper?

‘He hasn’t been quite good enough but it will come down to money and what Amorim has got to spend.

‘We’ve seen this goalkeeper do well at Inter Milan as well. But I don’t think his distribution has been great either, and that’s one of the reasons he was brought in.

‘But can you almost get away with not spending another £40m on a goalkeeper? I don’t know. Ruben Amorim has a lot of problems to solve.’

Diego Simeone sends message to Arsenal and Liverpool over Julian Alvarez transfer

Sevilla FC v Atletico de Madrid - La Liga EA Sports

Diego Simeone says it is ‘logical’ that clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool will be interested in signing ‘extraordinary’ Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid.

It was reported last month that Arsenal and Liverpool were admirers of Alvarez, who enjoyed a brilliant first season at Atletico after leaving Manchester City last summer.

Eyebrows were raised when Atletico spent over £80m to sign Alvarez, who was mainly a bit-part player at the Etihad Stadium and played a support role behind superstar striker Erling Haaland.

But Alvarez has justified his big-money move to Madrid, scoring 29 goals during his first season at Atletico and providing a further five assists.

For much of the campaign Atletico Madrid were challenging for the La Liga title and had aspirations of winning the Champions League but Simeone’s side fell away in the second-half of the season.

Alvarez is believed to be settled and loving his time at the club but could push to leave if he feels his ambitions of winning major trophies cannot be fulfilled.

Arsenal and Liverpool, both keen to sign a new striker, are open to bringing Alvarez back to the Premier League and Simeone is not surprised by the interest in the Argentine.

Asked about speculation linking Alvarez with a summer move, Simeone told La Nacion: ‘It’s logical, I can’t imagine any other scenario.

‘Julian is 25-years-old, he’s an extraordinary player, with hunger, with enthusiasm, with humility, with work, with goals, with status.

‘How could everyone not want him? And Barcelona, PSG, Arsenal, Liverpool… the best have to want him.

Why did Man City sell Julian Alvarez?

‘It was a joy to work with him. I learnt a lot from him and hopefully he can find what he was looking for.

‘He believes his period here must be over so both clubs arrive to an agreement.

‘He’s incredibly loved by the team for his behaviour but like I said many times for many players, he wants to leave and have a new challenge.’

Pep Guardiola speaking after Julian Alvarez left Manchester City

‘And for us, Atletico fans, it should be a source of pride that everyone wants him.

‘Why? Because he’s ours. And since he’s ours, we have to take care of him. We have to help him feel happy.

‘How will he feel happy? By winning. And to get there, we all have to give 110 per cent. And not just for him, of course, but for everyone.’

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo issued a hands-off warning to Arsenal and Liverpool after they were linked with moves for Alvarez.

‘Julian Alvarez is an Atletico Madrid player and will be an Atletico Madrid player,’ the 77-year-old, who has held the role since 2003, told Marca.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is desperate to finally welcome an elite goalscorer to the Emirates Stadium and has also expressed interest in Viktor Gyokeres, of Sporting Lisbon, and Benjamin Sesko, of RB Leipzig.

Arne Slot is in a similar position at Liverpool and is interested in adding Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike to his Premier League title-winning squad.
