Emergency services scrambled to north Manchester at around 5pm on Sunday following reports of a serious assault.

Greater Manchester Police launched a murder investigation and arrested four people – including three teenagers – in connection with the death.

Two boys, 14 and 16, were arrested on suspicion of murder.

A 14-year-old girl and a 37-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

All four remain in custody this morning.

Cops said a number of crime scenes are in place as they investigate.

Manchester Coroner’s Office confirmed it has received a file for Ibrahima.

Flowers and tributes have been left at the scene, as cops and forensics continue to investigate.

Eyewitnesses told MEN how the young victim fled the attack, running through his front door begging for help.

“He just came through the door and said ‘I’ve been stabbed’.

“We sat him down on a chair and phoned an ambulance.

“He just kept saying ‘I don’t want to die’.”

Onlookers desperately tried to save Ibrahima with CPR before paramedics arrived.

Superintendent Marcus Noden said last night: “This is a distressing and heart-breaking incident where a boy has lost his life.

“We are still trying to establish the circumstances around the incident and have a number of scenes in place.”

Pictures from the scene show a police cordon on Nevin Road in New Moston as well as another at the nearby Fairway Inn pub.

An air ambulance was also scrambled to the scene, landing in Nuthurst Road Park – just a short distance away from Nevin Road.

Detectives said the boy’s family is being supported by specialist officers.

Cops are currently appealing for information and are asking people who were in the Nevin Road area to come forward.

Man Utd reject approach for £36.5m star but sanction major transfer exit

Manchester United have rejected an approach for Joshua Zirkzee while sanctioning another player’s departure from Old Trafford, according to reports in Italy.

United spent £36.5m to sign Zirkzee from Bologna last summer but the Netherlands international endured an underwhelming first season in the Premier League.

Zirzkee contributed just three goals in the Premier League and found himself out of the team after being subbed off in the 33rd minute of United’s defeat to Newcastle at the end of December.

A large section of Manchester United supporters booed Zirkzee as he made his way off the pitch and the incident felt like the beginning of the end of the 24-year-old’s spell at the club.

But Zirkzee did offer some promising signs towards the end of the campaign and has seemingly done enough to earn at least one more season at Old Trafford.

The forward was heavily linked with a move away from United earlier in the year but Old Trafford bosses have rejected an approach from Inter Milan to sign the Dutchman.

Corriere dello Sport say Inter initially approached Manchester United in the hope of bringing both Zirzkee and Rasmus Hojlund to Serie A.

But United rejected the chance to offload Zirzkee while setting out their terms for Hojlund’s departure from the Theatre of Dreams.

Like Zirzkee, Hojlund also endured a miserable season in front of goal, scoring four Premier League goals.

The Denmark international recently dismissed speculation he could leave Manchester United this summer but Gazzetta dello Sport say he is privately keen to join Inter Milan.

Rasmus Hojlund breaks silence on Man Utd transfer rumours

‘I have a contract until 2030, so I expect to play for Manchester United. I’m looking forward to going on a summer vacation, and then I’m fully dedicated to the project that’s underway.

‘As I’ve told you before, I try to stay away from all that, because it’s both for better and for worse these days.

‘I know I can’t get much out of reading things. I know what the facts are, and that is that I have a contract with Manchester United until 2030.

‘I expect to play there, so I’m just getting ready for some summer vacation and then hopefully a good pre-season.’

Speaking to Danish news outlet Ekstra Bladet

Hojlund’s representatives have held positive talks with the Champions League finalists and United have indicated he is free to leave on a permanent transfer.

Manchester United are not interested in loaning Hojlund out next season unless there is an obligation to make the move permanent in 12 months’ time for around €45 (£38m).

Ex-Premier League striker Chris Sutton believes United should ‘get rid’ of both Hojlund and Zirkzee, claiming neither are at the level needed to play for the Red Devils.

‘United want to get to the top of the Premier League and into the Champions League,’ he said. ‘Is Zirkzee a player who gets you there? Not for me, he isn’t.

‘I don’t think Hojlund has that striker quality required for the Premier League either. He’s a hard worker but not the source of goals they desperately need.’

Hojlund and Zirkzee’s struggles have led Manchester United to target a new No. 9 this summer.

‘Zirkzee can become superstar at Man Utd’

Ruben Amorim was keen to welcome Liam Delap to Manchester before Chelsea won the transfer race and is interested in his former Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.

But perhaps there is a more to come from Zirzkee, who can develop into a ‘superstar’ for the Premier League giants, according to Old Trafford hero Lee Sharpe.

‘I like Zirkzee – he was unfortunate to get injured when he did, but he’s a real baller and I think he can be a superstar for Manchester United if he can get games under his belt,’ Sharpe told Metro via Coin Poker.

‘He needs a regular run. I don’t think he’s had a 10-game stint where he has actually played week in, week out.

‘There were reports that he wasn’t quite fit when he signed, so it took him a bit of time to get up to speed.

‘I think he was just finding his feet when he got injured but I think he’s going to prove a real key player next season.’

15-year-old wonderkid snubs Chelsea transfer to stay at relegated club

One of English football’s most promising young talents has turned down the chance to sign for Chelsea and Manchester City.

Jeremy Monga made headlines in March when he became the second-youngest player in Premier League history, aged just 15 years and 271 days.

Only Arsenal superstar Ethan Nwaneri (15 years and 181 days) was younger when he made his top-flight debut.

The Leicester youngster went onto make seven Premier League appearances before the end of the season but was powerless to prevent the Foxes’ relegation.

Unsurprisingly, transfer interest in Monga has been huge with Chelsea and Man City among the Premier League clubs keen on signing him.

Several European giants including Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich were also keen on the winger who has already captained England’s U16 side.

But it was announced on Monday that the teenager had snubbed all of them and would be staying at Leicester alongside eight other academy stars who had agreed new deals.

‘Jeremy Monga has committed to commencing his professional career as a Leicester City player, with an agreement now in place to secure the talented teenager’s future at King Power Stadium,’ the club said.

‘Jeremy will begin his Academy scholarship this summer with his first professional contract scheduled to commence in summer 2026.’

Had Monga, who joined Leicester’s Academy aged nine, left for another English club, the Foxes would only have received a small compensation fee.

Jeremy Monga 'mentally and physically' ready for the Premier League

Speaking after his historic debut against Newcastle, Leicester boss Ruud van Nistelrooy was full of praise for Monga, saying:

‘At such a young age and being the second youngest ever in the Premier League, it says something about how early he has developed.

‘He has the physical capability also and the mental capability to handle this. But we have his pathway ready for him and we’re going to guide him through that.

‘But you could see the way he trained this week, after he made his debut, it’s already lifted him and showed an even higher level, so it’s going quickly really with him.

‘You have to look after these players, mentally and physically. You can’t go too quick too soon. But within reason, we have to make the most of it and use him as much as we can.’

While a blow for the likes of Chelsea and Man City, they will no doubt be keeping tabs on the wonderkid as he continues to develop in the Championship next season.

There was some good transfer news for the Blues on Monday however, as they confirmed the signing of Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg, the Ligue 1 club also owned by Todd Boehly.

The 19-year-old defender joins in a deal worth £12million and has signed a contract until 2033.
